Vice President Kwesi Amissah- Arthur has paid glowing tribute to the late Lt Col Enoch Kwame Tweneboah Donkor (rtd) a former chief of Staff in the PNDC.
He made the remarks when a delegation of chiefs and people of the Badu Traditional area, led by Nana Boakye Yiadom (Omanhene of the Badu Traditional area) when they called on him at the Flagstaff House, to inform government about the demise and funeral arrangements of the late the late Lt Col Donkor, a former Minister for Defence.
On his Part the Vice President Kwesi Amissah -Arthur described the late Lt Col EKT Donkor (rtd) good friend, brother and colleague who he had the opportunity to work with from the PNDC days and NDC days, describing him as very humble and forthright personality who served his nation very well in all the capacities that was assigned to him.
He described his death as a great loss to the country serving the nation in various capacities, especially his dedicated service to the nation. Vice President Amissah –Arthur described his death as a big loss to the nation and the NDC fraternity.
He said he held several appointments. Some of these appointments including ; Chief of Staff , former deputy interior minister , interior minister , Ambassador the chairman of the Conference of Heads of Ghana’s Mission Abroad and former Minister for Defence from 1999 to January 7, 2001. He passed away on Wednesday 13, July 2016. That was the man E K T Donkor.
The Vice President promised that the government would join the chiefs and the people of the area to accord him a fitting funeral .
He said the celebration of life for such a great man great man who was also a disciplinarian was in order. He also promised that government would join and also assist in giving late Lt Col EKT Donkor (rtd) a befitting burial. He died at the age 77 years.
Hon. Kwasi Agyemang Gyan-Tutu the Member of Parliament for the Tain constituency. Who spoke who spoke on behalf of the chiefs and family said the purpose of the visit was to officially inform the Presidency of his death and also inform them about the arrangements for the burial of the late Lt Col Donkor, a former Minister for Defence
The delegation informed the Vice President of his burial date and also their preparations towards the final funeral rites.
His burial service and interment would b on Friday 30th September, 2016. Badu Methodist Church- 8.30 am. Final funeral rites, Badu Methodist Park -1.00 pm. Sunday 2nd October Thanksgiving service, Badu Methodist Church – 9.00 –Am.
Among the dignitaries who joined the Chiefs and people was Hon Cecilia Johnson- Chairman of council of State, Hon Asiedu Nketia General Secretary of the NDC party.
