A video and pictorial evidence has gone viral of President John Dramni Mahama giving out something that is suspected to be money to some party supporters during a road campaign tour.
With the song of 'Mahama paper' blaring, the president John Mahama, standing in his open-top vehicle at Abossey Okai and swapping gentle waves and chants with traders from the sunroof of his vehicle, is seen handing out what looks like cash to market women.
The video which has gone viral was obviously shot with a phone by someone who seemed to have been monitoring proceedings from the balcony of a storey building.
Many have accused the president of ‘vote buying’ ahead of December 7, elections.
However, his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has debunked the claims saying the video could have been doctored.
Speaking to JOY FM, Julius Debrah emphatically stated that – the president under no circumstance carry money on him during such trips - therefore it is impossible that he could hand out cash to anyone.
“That is something people have not taken notice of, presidents don’t carry money around. I never knew until I got to the presidency,” he said.
Mr Debrah who is yet to see the circulated video also said that - “I believe sincerely that knowing President Mahama, he wouldn’t deliberately go to a market place and start throwing money around. He is a very experienced person.
“Having worked with him closely I believe that under no circumstance will he be throwing money around,” he stressed.
Adding that – “It is also possible that it could be a leaflet. Anytime the president walks he does not carry cash on him and that is the tradition from generation so I will be very very surprised if the president had cash on him."

So Mr Debrah you want to tell Ghanaians a whole President of the State of Ghana was sharing leaflets? Ahhba Massa (Kwesi Pratt help me). You see Mr Ofosu Ampofo had lied to Ghanaians twice just recently. One of them is the 1 student I laptop and the other when they see that the President had made a mistake. Leaflets of that size, then what was in there. NDC. OYI DE3 OHHH NO.
Mr. speaker have you seen your cheeks? go and stand infront of the mirror. you wil understand what and all that i want to say to u. thank you.
You could clearly hear someone in the video shouting in twi "obekye me sika anaa"? so the president has become an evangelist who is shy of the tract he is sharing? Can the NDC show us the leaflet of that size in their campaign material? This is the first time I have seen a president sharing money in the open. Hmmm Asem beba dabi. If the president has enough money to share around, please give some to the DKM and NOBLE DREAM VICTIMS
Ohh ohh so president Mahama and his NDC after telling us we have short memory also thinks we have glaucoma?? God have mercy on you!!!
The president has no shame, he has lost credibility completely. Corruption is now his middle name.
Liars,***barred word*** and deceivers! they are all the same!
they think ghanaians are nboa so they come on air and spew any gabbage
Debra and ndc should respect Ghanaians, at least a bit! So the president was selecting people from the crowd to give them leaflets? Well, may be they were the few who could either read or don't support him and need to read his leaflets to know him and his ndc better. People with the likes of Debra and ndc think all Ghanaians have their type of brains. Funny folks!
The money was given to specific persons that the ndc president invited. He pointed to two specific persons and gave them the money. The money was taken from his pocket. It is clearly shown in the video. What is that "old lady", the second recipient, going to use a leaflet for? Can she even read? Leaflet about what?
never judge a book by its cover, i thought this man was different from the others. Those the gods want to destroy, they first make mad
