Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has described as spurious some of the election opinion polls which have declared some political parties winners of this year’s election.
He said such polls make followers of the political parties who do not understand the polls believe that their party has won the election which in his view doesn’t help in peace building. He added that should the opinion polls differ from the actual electoral results, people could start blaming the Electoral Commission and resort to violence.
He said this goes to discredit the integrity of the Commission and the outcome of the election. He therefore cautioned the intellectuals behind such polls to be wary of the impact of their spurious polls on the country.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur also added his voice calls on political parties and their activists to stop making unfounded allegations about the Electoral Commission.
He said all these are calculated to undermine the credibility and integrity of the commission. He cautioned those behind it to stop it and rather consider how best they can help the Electoral Commission to deliver a free, transparent and credible election on December 7.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this on the third day of his four day campaign tour of the Central Region when he inaugurated a girls’ dormitory for the Enyan Abaasah Technical Institute in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency.
The girls’ dormitory has the capacity to admit more than 500 boarders. The authorities at the institute appealed for a boys’ dormitory, a vehicle and other facilities.
Meanwhile, the Vice President’s touching base campaign tour of the Central Region took him to the Gomoa Central, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Mfantsiman constituencies.
He paid courtesy calls on traditional authorities and addressed mini rallies. He encouraged the NDC supporters to go all out on December 7 and vote massively for President Mahama and all the parliamentary candidates of the party.
