Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini, has said it will be worrying if Minister-designate of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba is passed and sworn in as sector minister.
All the Minority legislators on Parliament’s Appointments Committee voted against her approval citing her inability to undertake her national service as well as her posture during her vetting as reasons.
However, the Committee as a whole recommended Ms Djaba and five other ministerial appointees for approval by majority decision despite Ms Djaba’s refusal to apologise for describing former President John Mahama as “evil, wicked” and “an embarrassment” to people of the regions up north.
However, Mr Suhuyini said on Friday that: “I don’t think that it is culturally acceptable to refer to another person as an evil person or wicked person without any basis. If there are bases culturally, President Mahama was not just anybody but was the embodiment of what we stand for as a country. Referring to him as evil is not criticism that is an insult”.
In terms of the abilities of Ms Djaba to successfully run the ministry, Mr Suhuyini said “that was a Minster sitting before us and assuring us that she will take care of the vulnerable and aged in society as well as women and children. This is a woman who doesn’t even seem to have a good relationship with her mother, for us, we should be worried”.
Mr Suhuyini told Joy TV on Friday, February 3 that: “If she cannot demonstrate her ability to contain her mother no matter how much of a difference exists between them, then you shouldn’t be hopeful that she will have any care of thoughts for any vulnerable person who is aged”.

We will vote the NDC MPs backing Ayariga's concocted story OUT in 4year. Honorable indeed!!!
Worrying because she will not kowtow to your infantile politicking? You people are a disgrace to Ghana's parliament, using the vetting to settle personal and political scores. You are not even interested in the nominee's ability, qualification and her understanding of the issues confronting that sector. You put party and person before your nation and you call yourselves honorable men and women. SHAME ON YOU .
Why didn't u ask her during vetting. I didn't hear anything like that. Otiko is to implement policy. After all what impact does this ministry has in Ghana. Let the youth get jobs and they will take care of the vulnerable in their families.
AM SORRY FOR THOSE PEOPLE HAVING SUHINI AS THEIR HEAD AGAIN SUCH A PERSON IS MP AS SORRY FOR OUR PARTY.
Nana O had a lot of 'differences' with her deputy, which was public knowledge. Yet she has been hailed as standing tall as compared the 'nominee'.You are having a 'bias' against her, because you think she was raw to 'yours'.But dont forget over 5 million voted against your party, because they believed 'you' were 'wicked',selective, discriminatory, insensitive to the 'cries, of the majority. If you think one man who has enjoyed the largesse of Ghana more than any other, should continue to stand in the way of majority of Ghanaians, then God have mercy on your 'constituents'Mr Suhuyini.
It is trendy that, NDC members on the vetting committee disapprove all nominees who have, as it where, thrown some shades at Prez Mahama. Well, be that as it may, the overriding factor is the nominees' competencIES for the intended position being vetted for. NDC are entitled to think parochially about the interest their party, but the nominees thinks largely about the populace and that is what the people of Ghana want.
Even Oti Bless got your blessings! Go to hell if it hurts you!
This boy lies and do propaganda as if he is he still on Radio Gold. Someone must remind him.
ex president mahama is more than wicked. He was only happy to be called president but did not perform as a president
It is sad to have people like Suhiyini & Ablakwa in the Parliament. Never make any sensible statement. Exhibiting their F00OLISHNESS all the time. SAD FOR GHANA BUT WE CAN TAKE CONSOLATION THAT THEY ARE IN THE MINORITY.
