Progressive People’s Party [PPP] Policy Advisor, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw has said that the under-construction vice-president mansion should be converted into a modern hospital due to the huge spending on the ongoing project.
The PPP man noted that, the need to house the second family of the country is very important but the amount involved is 'unreasonable' for a country like Ghana.
There have been calls for an investigation into the contract and expenditure of the bungalow after Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia disclosed that the cost of the building was $13.9million.
The Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has revealed that government may launch a full-scale audit into the contract.
But, Mr. Asamoah-Siaw is skeptical about such calls - voicing fears that any investigation will lead to nothing.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie', Mr Asamoah-Siaw noted that government must rather seek the welfare of Ghanaians and not politicians.
"Politicians are just caretakers and caretakers cannot enrich themselves whiles the masses are suffering. The vice president is not important than any of us. The watchmen cannot enjoy better than the owners,” he contested.
According to him, the superlative mansion when completed must be converted into a hospital to serve the country.
“We must turn the building into a hospital to beef up the health sector. Since the building is closer to 37 Military Hospital, they should use it as 37 annex,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
Adding that “If the vice-president wants to swim, he should go to those expensive hotels to swim there not with our money.”

100% Accurate
The NPP government is treating the NDC criminals with kid's grove. Probably, they are thinking of their own fate after 4 years. If you collect the stolen items and leave them free to go, is this a punishment? No doubt that a white man calls us 'Black Monkeys.'
This man must talk for Dr Nduom to pay him. Do you know how much it will cost us to convert it into a hospital? Stop being petty and childish Kofi ebeii
Agreed... !!!
Is not about the building we are talking about but the cost involve in putting up such an a building. It is just unreasonable for a country like Ghana who continues to borrow to survive to think of spending such a huge money to put up a building for our vice president. It just doesn't make sense and simply does not add up. In any case converting such a building for other purpose will mean nothing but rather incur another cost. Who ever took such a decision to approve such a contract must be made to answer some questions because this is simply wickidness on the part of people we elect to manage our funds for us.
Mahama gas a hand in the inflated that is why he doesn't want to leave the govt bungalow so the Bawumia will move in to cover the deal.
I AM NPP SUPPORTER TO THE BONE AND I REALLY AGREE ON THIS IDEA
I totally agree. Convert it to a Children's hospital.
