National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku says the party is in full support of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s free SHS policy that will commence in September this year.
According to him, it is a vital project to undertake in order to strengthen the education system in the country.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Sammy Awuku noted that President Akufo-Addo’s vision for Ghanaians is to ensure that he leaves behind an age-long legacy that will benefit the entire population.
Addressing criticisms about funding of the free SHS, Sammy Awuku stated that he sees nothing wrong if the government decides to dip its hand in the Heritage Fund to facilitate the project and ensure its implementation this year.
He explained that though the Heritage Fund is aimed at securing future generations, it would be of no use to them if the Fund is not utilized today to benefit them in the future.
“The principle is that if you’re building a better future for the next generation, then the generation must benefit from that today because we, Ghana, always say that they’re the future leaders. When the future leaders, they don’t have opportunity to develop themselves; how can they own the future?”
Sammy Awuku welcomed the President’s initiative and the government’s quest to source money from the Heritage Fund to implement the policy, saying “if we won’t steal the money and so far as the money is Ghana’s, even if a loan we will go for to educate our citizens; we’re in full support of it…I know that the President means well. And I know the biggest legacy he wants to leave behind is to make sure that every Ghanaian child is covered when it comes to this free Senior High School.”

Many gre ed and fa ke people in the system but they potrayed to be Worshippers of The Almighty. As someone Said if no then free education in the north should be abolished. If the free in the south were to be introduced today without the north,I think there will be too much noise from some babies with s harp teeth. But the discriminatory fee education in the north has been there for many years which I think was supported by the procceeds from the cocoa from the south.
Sammy, Sammy, Sammy Awuku!! Be very very very careful of your words. Even though NPP won all the foul words on the radio waves, NDC was tag babies with sharp teeth. Now that you are in power you will have to defend all good and bad decision/policies of your government. So hide your pride for the sake of your party.
We are in full support of the government to fully use the Heritage Fund for the free SHS education. We do not want any party to misappropriate this fund in future. NDC Plans have failed. What did the NDC government do with the pension fund?
SAMMY NO BODY STEALS MONEY TO DO PROJECTS. MIND YOUR WORDS SINCE YOUR PARTY IS NOW RUNNING THE COUNTRY. BE MATURED FOR ONCE, PLEASE!
