Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Koku Anyidoho has kicked against suggestions to enroll various vigilante groups associated with the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] as National Security officers.
According to him, the idea being mooted by NPP’s outspoken leader, Kennedy Agyapong should not even be considered by government at all.
“In as much as we want to employ the youth, National Security shouldn’t be a dumping ground for these unemployed youth. That is dangerous. We shouldn’t joke with that,...it should be a specialised area for professionals or those trained for such jobs,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong insists NPP youth groups that provided security services for the party are recognised within the structures of the party and must therefore be protected, now that the NPP is in power.
“The vigilante groups are recognized in the party and so I will personally make sure they are recruited into national security. If it is employment they seek, we will gladly employ them to continue working for Ghana. Any of the Invincible Forces and Delta Forces who have no work should come to me today, we will offer them employment,” he said.
One of the groups, Delta Force, has come under public scrutiny following their latest attack on the recently assigned Ashanti regional security coordinator.
Before then, the infamous Invincible Force had been blamed for many atrocities on innocent citizens since the party won the 2016 elections.
The groups are believed to have rendered private security services to the NPP while they were in opposition.
Many Ghanaians, including the Christian Council of Ghana have called for the disbandment of the groups, but the parties has often justified their existence.
Speaking on the matter, Koku lamented that “Is this the low level we want to drag our national security? Is the national security now a dumping ground?”
“What training do these boys have after they have badly exposed themselves as party faithfuls? Are we going to paint the National Security in party colors?” he questioned.

When politics & common sense does not measure ones intelligence. When politicians loose basic common sense to govern.
Ayidoho should not think that NPP is like NDC where all criminals like Afryie Ankrah, Adu Asare etc, were called to take refuge at the Jubilee House.
I never heard you said this when NDC was dumping its foot soldiers there to harass innocent citizens for no reason. What goes around comes around.
Not just unemployed youth but wweed smokers and ccriminals
Kennedy Koraa ah what sought utterances are these. your utterances always is being used as a bait to NPP. You know this NDC group are always looking for loop holes comment to depend on to attack NPP. Pls reverse your comment; the police service is there for all Ghanaians not npp faithfuls. Yous should not repeat same mistakes committed by NDC. Ayidoho Knows very well that is what they did during their tenure but he will intentionally turn himself to be white Angel to criticise you
