Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. has advised the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu not to put his name forward as one of the contestants for the flagbearer position of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Following the NDC's defeat in the 2016 elections, there have been questions over who leads the party in the next general elections in 2020.
Some NDC kingpins have been marked to be best candidates for the flagbearer position in the party.
Names like Hon. Alban Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Tamale South and Mr. Ekow Spio Garbrah, former Trade and Industry Minister among others, have been mentioned in hope that one of these prominent personalities will finally lead the party.
But to Kweku Baako, it is not yet time for the affable and youthful Tamale South MP to run as a Presidential candidate for the party.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the Senior Journalist hoped Hon. Iddrisu would pay heed to his counsel because he believes the latter is not ready to run the race.
"Haruna Iddrisu is very young, very nice guy. I’m not sure whether he’s ready to put himself in it. If I were to advise him anyway, I’d tell him to bid his time. Well, his name has popped up but if I were him, I’d wait awhile,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of the show.
Touching on reports that Hon. Alban Bagbin is lacing his boots to contest as t NDC's flagbearer when the party opens for nominations, Mr. Baako noted that the Nadowli/ Kaleo MP is a "formidable factor in the party. It will be interesting if he throws himself into the race," but however stressed that the only competitive person among all the NDC potential aspirants is former President John Dramani Mahama.
He stressed that looking at the credentials of the former President in the party; he best qualifies to lead them to another battle in 2020.
"He led them into an election 2012. They won the election, forget about the court case. At the end of the day, if there were doubts about his victory, when they sent it to court; the court validated the declaration of the EC. So, as far as I’m concerned, he won it..." he said, adding that the NDC will be riding on the track record of Ex-President Mahama to contest the 2020 elections.

haruna looks like a watchman
Both haruna and john mahama must be selling khebab and chichinga and stop destroying Ghana with their selfish political ambitions. No northerner who has done nothing for his poor people should be allowed to waste the aspirations of the rest of Ghana.
Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako Junior has got it all right. That is a fantastic analytical submission.
I disagree with Kweku Baako's thesis that Jon Mahama is the only best suited candidate for NDC for 2020; for me it is a BOGUS mirage in the desert and a poor political analysis ; history should tell Kweku Baako that the same one band was used by Asiedu Nketia and his kriminal cohorts to instigate and bar anybody froom contesting Jon Mahama to lead the NDC in the 2016 elections without any credible candidate; the truth is that JOn Mahama has no credibility in governance and is plain theeff on a mission to better his family and not Ghana ; Kweku Baako should knoe by now that the man is not a leader but ended up as presidential candidate by default ;he was heavily financed by his two siblings Alfred Mahama and Ibrahim Mahama to stand as a presidential candidate in the interest of the family business ; to me credibility is crucial for the NDC for 2020 ; today the NDC is tagged with the toxic label of arrogance ; stilling ; over pricing of contracts and serious fraud ; anybody who stands for the 2020 slot for the NDC should be squeaky clean ; that person should be able to stand up and say they are not corrupt BUT NOT JON MAHAMA the man is tainted with the f..a'e..c.e.s of toxic corruption and today swims in the cesspit of stilling for his family ;to me the NDC cannot present Jon Mahama again for 2020 again because it will be suicide and will end up in utter defeat again besides Does Kweku Baako think Ghanaians will forget the pian and trouble Jon Mahama took Ghana through in the 8 year ; the nepotism ; stilling ; corruption ;arrogance ; womanising ; you name it Jon Mahama in involved .
With all the opportunities Hon.Haruna Idrisu, has had in his political career, what significant achievement has he had apart from his distractive political talks in Parliament. Check his performance as former Minister of Trade and Industry. He just doesn't have what it takes to transform a country like Ghana.
How many times have you listened to Kweku Baako's submission on air. When we talk of fact, truth and impartiality , you cannot leave him out. the man with walking document with fact. May you hate him cos he does not speak to your bias direction. H e is a man respect and love so much. Lear how to talk next time.
THE FIRST IN MY LIFE,KWAKU BAAKO TALK SENSE.HON.HARUNA IDDRISU SHOULD ACTUALLY TAKE HIS TIME.ANOTHER GOOD GUY IS MY CLASSMATE EMMANUEL ARMAH.YOUNG GUYS FOR THE FUTURE''''''
Who takes KWaaku Baako's advise? An avowed critic and hater of the NDC as a body corporate. We all thought it was RAWLINGS,but today we all heard him announce his hatred and dislike for the NDC. I pity any NDC person who takes him serious.
You're on Point. JM 2020
Surprised Hon. Doe Adjaho's name has not popped up yet. Hon. am ready to finance your campaign.
