The Finance minister has come under fire from NDC MPs who are crying foul over the award of a 10million cedi contract without approval from the Public Procurement Authority.
Picking up the theme of cronyism echoed Tuesday afternoon by the Minority, Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George told Joy News later in the evening, the breaches of the law are clear.
The Minority at a press conference produced a letter signed by the Finance minister authorising adb bank to disburse ¢10.459 million to McDan Shipping company.
Incidentally, the company had also won a COCOBOD contract also granted him by the Finance minister without the approval of the Central Tender Review Committee of the Public Procurement Authority.
These two developments, the Minority says, portends dangerous times for corporate governance in Ghana because the Finance minister is reaching beyond his authority.
Without giving details of the exact breach in the law, Sam Goerge said on Newsnite, " no section of Financial Administration Act that gives him those powers."
He said the NPP after demonising the previous government for using sole sourcing to dish out contracts to cronies are also doing the same thing.
McDan, the NDC pointed out, played a role in the NPP's attempt to bring into the country foreign nationals which the party claims were to train the security team around their 2016 presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
The Minority said the 10.4m loan to the company, therefore, smacks of “nepotism and blatant partisanship.”
Sam George questioned the authenticity of the Finance minister's Christian faith after disregarding laid down procurement process.
"Can I ask the Finance minister...he professes to be a very good Christian. If he will be able to face the Lord on judgement day and say to the Lord that he carried himself right."
He said the Minority would boycott the 2018 budget approval later in the year if the various Boards of public institutions are not constituted by the president.
"We cannot continue an illegality. We will not be approving the budget of government", he said explaining Parliament approved expenditures for state institutions in the knowledge that its boards will be in place to ensure good corporate governance practices.

Ei, Sam George, 'wo she ho?
Eiii! Sam George are you serious at all wise up. (Yi wani ase mpuna ansaana wayi wo yonko de3 ) check from the NDC gurus and ask them that question before they face the law.
Sam George, please let me ask you, knowing what you know about NDC dealings, how you have justified some, lied about some, refused to speak up when you saw wrong been done.......will you be able to face the Lord on judgement day? Oh wait, you have not actually professed to be Christian, have you?
Nana should take action immediately or else all his efforts will be in vein
the NDC guy are u serious look who is talking about judgement day grow up man
Nkwaseafuo s333 aa na asei ndc. Aliens of the party who are using big mouthing for positions. Most of these loud mouths joined the ndc for money but not to help the party. This guy according to sources worked at former Vice president Aliu's office but nobody heard of him and nobody saw he was a bufoon even though they could read some strange behaviour about him but wasn't allowed in the NPP to dislay that. Look at how he and others unknown to the party have sunk ndc to the lowest depth with their mouth and yet still ndc give these people the chance to destroy the party. Does he Sam George think he is going to heaven? If even God get one righteous in the ndc he will give them free pass to heaven of all their gargantuan sins. They are not the ones to judge for their sins to this nation are above mount everest.
Very good question but should have been directed to JOHN Mahama, the former SSNIT officials, Omane Boamah, Ibrahim Mahama, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Dr. Opuni........the list is endless. These are the people who deliberately made sure Ghana sank deep below economic redemption by siphoning state funds for person myopic selfish gains while the nation cries. What a waste of time!
How about you? Buffo000on
See who is asking this question? Haven't these my people realizes the mistakes we made prior to the elections? Some of these questions are politically legitimate, but should not be put forth by someone like this very young Sam George. Remember, the reciepient of this question was ranked the most respected CEO somewhere last year or two. I'm not saying he is a Saint,,, No,,, But when S. George asks this, what's is going to be its effect in the face of the so called middle class? Arrogance and disrespect will simply be their thoughts..... Just look at how he(Ken Ofori-Atta) speakes to the media,,,, total respect,, its a politically well calculated move. I'm not in any way suggesting that Sam George shouldn't speak,, but not on some of these issues and his choice of words. NDC, we should work on some of these things. Let's remind ourselves that in the face of most deep thinking Ghanaians, we are not worth talking this way. I entreat that we all work to gain some 'credibility' first, after which we can bombard the NPP with whatever....... My small thinking
