Deputy Chief of Staff, Abu Jinapor says his accuser, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus is not someone he will call a friend.
The embattled government appointee in an interview with Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ noted that even though he doesn’t have enemies, he wouldn’t befriend the ‘Aben Be Bom’ hit maker.
“I’ve known him for quite a while… but I wouldn’t say we are friends. I don’t have too many friends. I have acquaintances; I don’t have enemies either at least from my side, so everyone will qualify, quote and unquote, as a friend.”
“I’ve known him [A Plus] since 2007 when the President was running for the presidential candidature of the NPP when he composed that song. I have known him since then,” Mr. Jinapor said
Mr. Jinapor has been headlining major new bulletins after controversial musician and a supporter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo accused him and Francis Asenso-Boakye, both deputy chiefs of staff of corruption.
The president however called a thorough investigation into the matter – but the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service last week described A Plus’ corruption allegation against the duo as “baseless, unsubstantiated" and lacking credibility.
As when the issue was fading out, a leaked tape believed to be a conversation between A-Plus and a CID officer, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, suggested a cover-up by the police to protect the two public officials against the musician surfaced.
