Private Legal Practitioner and Member of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has said Ghana will not be peaceful if the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei, is removed from office.
According to him, the current government is using the system to harass Mrs Osei, a situation he said does not augur well for the stability of the country.
Mrs Osei is expected to answer for six allegations out of the 27 accusations levelled against her by her two deputies Amadu Sulley (in charge of Operations), and Georgina Amankwa (in charge of Corporate Services).
This was after she appeared before the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court on Monday, December 11, after the President forwarded a petition by Forson Ampofoh and Godsway Dzado, both drivers at the EC office for her impeachment in relation to alleged corruption and mismanagement.
The two deputies are to also answer for their alleged roles in the disappearance of some GHS480,000 from the EC’s Endowment Fund, among other allegations.
Mrs Osei, who was present at the hearing with her lawyer explained that she has not been officially served with the petition. She has therefore written to the presidency to furnish her with a copy of the petition.
She has also written to the Judicial Service to provide her with reasons why she has been asked to appear before the committee even though she has not officially received a copy of the petition to be privy to the accusations levelled against her.
Speaking on this matter in an interview with Accra FM on Tuesday December 12, Mr Amaliba said: “These are the worrying signals. How can you drag somebody to your committee without giving the person a copy of the document and everybody is keeping quiet?”
“…What has the woman done? She has declared election results in your favour and so what again do they want from her that they are using the process to harass her?
“Where are the CDDs? Where are the Occupy Ghanas? If it were to be the NDC government all these people would be speaking by now. Where is Emile Short? Where is Professor Martey? This country will burn and we will see where all of us will be and so they should continue doing it.”

If the security institutions can't do the JOB to protect us we will do the protection ourselves. What a h'eLL is Amaliba saying "BURN GHANA" okey we are waiting for him to burn Ghana but i can promise him people are ready to take his LIFE if he wants to BURN GHANA 1st. He should advise himself because we are not ready to tolerate S'TUPIDITY.
And he claims to be a lawyer . Half-baked lawyer with such a shallow understanding of the workings of the constitution of Ghana. And people pay good money for such straw lawyers to chop their money free. AHHH e'y3 tang!!!
Ghana shouldn't burn because of Charlotte Osei's removal. I think there are more judicial avenues opened for her and others to seek appropriate redress and fair hearing.
Amaliba a.k.a AmaniaBA you are simply "S'tupid"You think Ghanaian's don't have head. You and Mahama could not destroy Ghana but you think the removal of the current Electoral commissioners can destroy Ghana then you are simply "M'ad and a Big S'tupid. Next
This is an unpatriotic statement. So if the lady is found guilty and Ghana burns will you plus the woman also burn? This statement does not come from a statesman. What is the noise about? There is a process which has just commenced and yu have already panicked. Ah! This coming from a lawyer! So school does not really change some people from who they really are. Some don't like to see peace and quietness around them. People have ran from their countries to come and settle here and you want Ghana to burn. God will not look on for selfish and unwise people to bring chaos to His beloved country. The life that you have is God's so be careful about your utterances. God killeth and maketh alive. Pray for long life, young man. Life is not about one Electoral Commissioner. Live one day at a time and thank God for the the breath He gives you per time. Don't boast into the future for the future is not yours, young man. Get wisdom. It is precious. Don't make empty boasts because power belongs to God.
Okay. we will take your passport so that we all sink together.
U r soooo ssstttuupit to say Ghana will burn bcos of that fraudulent charlotte osei. This says he's a lawyer and the police is just looking at this ddump lawyer. Arrest amaliba immediately
I now understand why there is no peace in his region. You think the reSt of Ghanaians lack common sense like your region people to fight? Come again moron
VERY IRRESPONSIBLE TALK FROM SO CALL LAWYER HE WILL BE THE FIRST TO BURN! THIS CALLED DUE PROCESS!
Assuming Hon. Kennedy Adjapong had mistakenly said this! Your guess would have been good as mine.
