The Electoral Commission (EC) has been summoned to appear before the Special Budgets Committee to justify the figure they have put against programmes that will be implemented next year.
The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said this will assist Parliament to better understand the Commission’s budget.
Mr. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu made the comment when Parliament approved three hundred and seventy-three million Cedis for the Commission’s work for next year (2018).
He said the recent turbulence at the EC should be expeditiously dealt with so the Commission can execute programmes on its calendar.
The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrissu, recommended additional resources for the EC so it can update and improve its IT infrastructure before undertaking major reforms next year.
