Donald Trump was caught lying about what happened when he met Queen Elizabeth II.
In a speech about his visit to Windsor Castle last week, the US President falsely claimed the British monarch had reviewed her Guard of Honour "for the first time in 70 years" when he came to the UK.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday he said: "We met with the Queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honour Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me.
"We walked in front of the Honour Guard and that was very inspiring to see and be with her. And I think the relationship, I can truly say is a good one. But she was very, very inspiring indeed."
But Trump's statement was far from the truth, because, as the Queen’s coronation was in June 1953 – meaning she hasn’t even been on the throne for 70 years. She has reviewed the Guard of Honour frequently during her 66-year reign as monarch, including in 2011 when she reviewed it with former president Barack Obama.
People were quick to pick up on the lie on Twitter and they called Trump out for it.
"Exactly how old does he think she is?" one Twitter user asked.
Another said: "Trump claims that the Queen reviewed her Honour Guard for the first time in 70 years. That’s absolute nonsense."
