IMANI Africa President, Franklin Cudjoe has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson nominee, Jean Mensa, to seek guidance from the experience of the immediate past EC boss, Charlotte Osei.
“She should look to what happened to Charlotte and be guided by it,” he stated on The Big Issue.
Mr. Cudjoe even “encouraged her [Jean Mensa] to speak to Charlotte.”
Jean Mensa, the Executive Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs, (IEA), was nominated as the new Chairperson after a turbulent period at the Commission.
President Akufo-Addo on June 28, 2018, removed Charlotte Osei and her two deputies from office upon the recommendation of a committee set up by the Chief Justice, to investigate separate complaints made by some Ghanaian citizens.
Charlotte Osei was accused of various procurement breaches, whilst the deputies were also found guilty of same offenses as well as financial malfeasance.
Mr. Cudjoe noted that he did not expect the sources of the turbulence at the EC to disappear with the nomination of the new EC Chairperson.
It is, for this reason, it is important that Jean Mensa taps into the experience of Charlotte Osei, he said.
The engagement will “let her understand that these are the pitfalls [Charlotte Osei] went into and these are the reasons why some of the decisions were taken.”
“She must try to see that the EC needs total renewal because I still believe there are hawks still there,” Mr. Cudjoe added.

A discredited Tink Tank. You have really brought your NGO's name into disrepute. You can't compare Jean to Charlotte. No advice at all. Lots of people with good advice are around. Go away with your empty tank
With the demeanor and pronouncement of Mr. Cudjoe, the image and the academic competence of the IMANI is falling short of professional ethics. Is Mr. Cudjoe being sarcastic, cynical or rude?. Well, if he seeks to poke fun at Mrs, Osei's shortcomings, then IMANI might be gradually moving away from the academic exercise to political satire. That would clearly daint the image of IMANI, damaging its remarkable role of academic and research aptitude for policy analysis, if you like, Think Tank. Please, IMANI, just leave these petty polemics, propaganda, and populism to Kwesi Pratt and the NDC, otherwise, you would make them unemployed
HAS THIS FRANKLIN DUDE LOST IT? FOLKS THIS DUDE NEEDS HELP JUDGING FROM HIS UTTERANCES LATELY1 AM SERIOUS!!!
Why not from Afari Gyan
Does Franklin think that having a huge mouth means knowing everything on earth? He has of late turned himself into an all-knowing god, attacking people with foul language and sewing shi**t. Let him go for the advice from Charlotte, since she is the alpha and omega of the NDC and their likes.
What is it about Charllote that u people are so worried about her going? You people can amaze me
I think what you mean is a handing over meeting...Something that we encourage in the public sector when there is an incoming head
What kind of advice is this? It would have been the best thing to do, but under the current circumstances, I beg to differ.
This man always amazes me. Madam Jean doesn’t need any advice from Charlotte Osei unless you want her to steal. Charlotte Osei is arrogant and disrespectful. So please leave Madam alone to come with her own style.
