The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini has expressed skeptism about decisions made by President Akufo-Addo after reports emerged that the latter was misled into granting executive approval for the new AMERI deal.
"If the president can be misled then how sure are we that he was not misled in other contracts and decisions that have been made so far in his administration? The fact that the president can be misled makes other agreement he has signed questionable," he stated.
President Akufo-Addo, according to reports, was misled into granting executive approval for the deal under the guise of there being an urgent need to have a bill laid in Parliament before the House rose.
Under the new proposal, the Greece-based Mytilineos International Trading Company was to assume management responsibility for the AMERI emergency power-generation arrangement negotiated by the past NDC government, in effect extending the original outsourcing agreement by ten more years.
But on his return to Accra from the 53rd session of the ECOWAS Heads of State meeting in Togo, Akufo-Addo quickly requested and received a further briefing on the new deal.
At the briefing, it emerged that the agreement to which he had given executive approval on July 31 lacked the requisite input from the Attorney General and the Ministry of Finance.
Suhuyini, who was contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday added that if the 'Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces can be 'misled', "then our security as a nation is not even that secure".
The Tamale North MP also wondered why the appointee who 'misled' the President is still walking free. According to him, that person should be punished for deceiving the First Gentleman of the country.
"To say that the President was misled is scary…how safe are we?...now that the president can be misled, the Commander-in-chief; then our security as a nation is not even that secure. It beats my imagination if this is the only time the president has been misled. It is a serious indictment on his ability to govern; either way he can’t win…(meanwhile) whoever led him to undertake that act has not been sanctioned…I don’t think it is something which is acceptable".

Who was misled to paying Woyome
Yes we are safe small boy. Now let us look at two leaders: Under Leader A, A wrong transaction is about to take place, (a.k.a the Ameri Scandal). A red flag is raised by the finance ministry then he stops the transaction Under Leader B, A wrong transaction is about to take place (a.k.a the Woyome Scandal). A red flag is raised by the finance ministry yet the leader looks on for the transaction to go on. Which of these two leaders are we safe under? Over to you Joe Lartey 🤭. When you live in a glass house, stone throwing should not be your hobby
In what other areas is the president being misled? Double track? hasten slowly
@Sey in a nation where we are humans and not perfect, we do not sack an EC who is human and bring gods, we do not collapse institutions which are led by humans and create new ones which are led by gods. We work at things slowly, using strategies that do not break but repair. Ghanaians need to thread cautiously.
We only hear NDC people talking about this AMERI deal which is why I don't want to believe anything until government comes out with its side of the story. Besides, the Energy Minister knows that cost cutting is the primary goal of the NPP government. Therefore why would he supervise such a thing? I believe in my party.
When you were at radio gold and talking rubbish Ghana was moving on .Characters like you will perpetually maintain the position of NDc in opposition. You, at radio gold chanting war song and choruses and lived peacefully not now that we are not safe by your rotten egg logic. I am an NDC but some of our new entrant actions are disservices and will causes agaiin
Do you believe what Gabby is saying?.I am 100% sure Abby and some few people in the president camp are behind this shame. The men in NPP are either cowards or are all in the stealing game. Gabby has become too powerful it is sickening there are no elders in Ghana anymore.
Energy ministery has also come out to say they had discussions with the group so who is saying the truth?I believe the ministery because they wouldn't be reckless like the ndc to do any st*pid thing. In any case, I suspect ndc to be behind that response, ndc is soooooo desperate they could kill their president and Vice president for power, these evil beings are the ones Ghana has to deal with through out her existence. They don't care whatever their actions will let the country look, all they care is will that help them to power? My Answer to them is HELL NO ! Ghanaians of yesteryear are different from today who are very discerning and look for actions more louder than words! I tell ndc 2020 is who brought Ghanaians relief to who brought Ghanaians hardship, who brought Ghanaians free SHS to who will let them pay, Who initiated NHIS and take it serious to who destroyed NHIS because dont care a dime about it because have no idea about it, it will be about who is preserving our God damn lands and who hired foreigners to destroy them, it will be about who created unemployment graduates in this country and who is trying to fix that sickness, it will be about who restored the teacher and nurses trainee allowances and who still want to cancel it. 2020, 3b3y3 d3 s3 pona! we have a lot to remind the good people about the ndc, not forgetting the arrogance, insults, th*eving with impunity the show of power and the order from above. Ghanaians are never ready to go back.
As we are at it, AMERI has written a letter to clearly state that they have not been in any negotiation with the Ministry of Energy. The minister who caused all this situation is still at post. Oh Lord. This should be a serious country refusing to be partisan to the extent of defending the indefencible. This minister would have been fired immediately and prosecuted. No wonder our kingsmen are still treking on the desert forced into a suicidal condition. If you are not hungry in Ghana, you can afford to be partisan but remember if you support these things which whichever government in power, your family members will be hungry. I will have to support people to get their daily bread which is a burden no matter which government is in power. These are people who are doing the right things but time and again our leaders fail them. I did not have to support them. Its painful.
@Sey i am at pains responding to you. This situation is very unfortunate for the whole country. A president who claim to be a lawyer, your leutenants bring you an agreement which a first year law student know should have the approval of the attorney general, the minister of finanace and advice from the procurement depaertment you set up with an LI. You were just about to stampede parliament to rubber stamp it till alarm blew partly from your own party members in parliament because they did not want to have anything to do with such a bill and you claim to have been misled? No way.
