Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the leadership of the Church of Pentecost to get Government to fix the road leading to the Church’s multi-purpose convention and retreat center at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
Speaking at the retirement service in honor of the immediate past Chairman of the church, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, former President Mahama emphasized the need to get roads in good shape to compliment the national developmental efforts by the Church.
According to Ex-President Mahama, on his first visit to the Pentecost Convention center [PCC], the then Chairman of the Church Apostle Opoku Onyinah told him that he invited him (President Mahama) purposely so he could see the bad state of the roads leading to the ultra-modern facility owned entirely by the Church.
The Ex-President Mahama however said that his efforts got some parts of the road fixed adding that he expects the new leadership of the Church to call on his successor, President Nana Akufo Addo to put in place efforts to fix the remaining parts of the road.“I remember in the early days when this convention center was built, I was invited to a program here I attended as President and in the course of Apostle Onyinah’s speech, he told me that I invited you here personally and I was a bit puzzled, and he said you see the road you traveled on ? And indeed if you arrived here and you saw the work that had been done here in terms of the magnificence [PCC] and you compared it to the roads it was like day and night, and I directed the officers of the urban roads to start doing something about it”
“The last stretch leading here still needs to be fixed, I hope that my successor the President was here so you would’ve told him the same thing you told me, so that the road will be completed.” Former President Mahama said leaving the whole congregation filled with laughter.
Former President Mahama was however full of praise for Apostle Opoku Onyinah. He said Apostle Onyinah lived a life that was an emulation of Christ’s life.
Mr. Mahama singled out the “significant” growth of the Church of Pentecost under Apostle Onyinah.
Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, the immediate-past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, on Sunday, August 26, 2018 officially bowed out of active service after 42 years of successful ministry.
He was succeeded by the former head of the COP in Koforidua Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye as the new Chairman of the Church.
The Church of Pentecost has a national population of over 2.5 million people.

Anything small this man will say trouble. If this is the way you want us to go then be ready for the worse . Ghana belongs to all of us nobody is more Ghanaian than the other.
Mahama must tell the Apostle of the church to use some of the money to build the road. The so called Pastors Apostle are driving expensive cars and living in big houses with the expense of the poor people in the church.
This is just a use'less criticism and it is high time MAHAMA learn from his past mistakes.JDM politics is not your profession. Just quit and find something to DO.
This man is always embarrassing himself. Did the problem come in JUST one and a half years after NPP? Or was it it there during you INCOMPETENT gov?
hypocrites. tell NANA Addo to complete the rest .the CHURCH and their leaders all hypocrite. gather the courage to tell NANA TOO. YOU THINK YOU WILL CRITISISE SOMEBODY AND LEAVE THE OTHER. YOU HATE MAHAMA FOR NOTHING. GOD IS WATCHING
This guy has no shame. You have to think before you open your mouth257437
This man has no shame. You had 8years in power. stuppppppppppppppppid talk, viewers he is try to tell the C.O.P people that they vote for nana so they should tell him and you said you coming again arrogant will kill you
Why is NPP becoming so sensitive to criticism especially coming from President Mahama, You’re becoming too jittery anytime President Mahama speaks Is it a sign of fear?
In fact what is wrong with Mahama? When he was the president was that centre not there? Why did he construct the road? After squandering the state funds you are asking the COP to force the president road? Should the president use your mother's money to fix it? I now get it now you aren't flying so you feeling the robust shaking of bones on the road so you are complaining. This man is real joker. Awi Mantse
