Former President Jerry John Rawlings has urged delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect candidates of integrity into the leadership cadre of the party.
In a message to the NDC delegates ahead of their Regional elections this weekend, Mr. Rawlings noted that the outcome of the elections will potentially affect the party's future.
He therefore asked the delegates to "reject those whose conduct and lack of genuine commitment have contributed to the weakening of the party."
According to him, "In the recent past the monetization of our internal selection process has adversely affected the fortunes of the party. I therefore urge you to resist the influence of money and material inducements from those who are more interested in themselves and their selfish interests than in building a strong and effective party".
In a statement issued by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa of his Communication Directorate and copied to Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Rawlings advised the delegates to only "elect those who respect the essence of team work and who are principled, truthful and sincere.”
Below is the full text of his message:
“Delegates from all 275 constituencies will assemble at various designated centres to perform a very important democratic function on behalf of party constituents this weekend.
The outcome of these conferences will go a long way in determining the future direction of the party.
To ensure the consolidation and re-invigoration of our party, I urge delegates to listen to their constituents and elect persons of integrity who genuinely have the party at heart.
In the recent past, the monetization of our internal selection process has adversely affected the fortunes of the party. I, therefore, urge you to resist the influence of money and material inducements from those who are more interested in themselves and their selfish interests than in building a strong and effective party.
The rank and file must take the destiny of the party into their own hands and reject those whose conduct and lack of genuine commitment have contributed to the weakening of the party.
Delegates must elect those who respect the essence of teamwork and who are principled, truthful and sincere. Let us establish through the outcome of our regional elections, that we have learned from our recent past.
My best wishes to all our candidates and delegates.”

INDIRECTLY, "DONT ELECT "Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin""
Ghanaian have already rejected President Nana Addo. It's now a question of whether they will accept President Mahama again.
The truth is that a minority of NDC delegates and party members need Jon mahama to be elected to government because he is the best candidate without any intergrity and a krook who can still for the luut to be shared as he during his turn as the leadr of the NDC ; Kofi Adamas ; Asiedu Nketia ; Omane boama ;Apaak are all hoping for jon Mahama to come back ; JJ Rawlings is speaking to the wise in the NDC.
There is no sincere person in the NDC to vote for.... The party is made of corrupt, greedy and incompetent people who can be described as d.e.m.ons to Ghana........
Is Rawlings principled and sincere?
@ "In the recent past the monetization of our internal selection process has adversely affected the fortunes of the party. I therefore urge you to resist the influence of money and material inducements from those who are more interested in themselves and their selfish interests than in building a strong and effective party". I set stomach upset when I real these kinds of statements from Rawling or any NDC man! NDC in Ghana's politics is like a curse. Taditionally we knew UP and CPP, but NDC stole their way and imposed themselves on us. They shared 'bentua, kako, money in match box, pieces of cloth etc all for vote so they can STEAL Ghana's money! What are they saying now? They seed they sowed..........
what has mahama did to this man that he cannot mention his name when talking. is he scared of mahama? why cant he open up and tell the delegates not to vote for mahama bcos mahama is the only one who fits the description of unprincipled and insincere candidate. i shok give papa j sef. mahama don jazz am.
