The Minority in parliament on Friday staged a walkout over objections to the consideration of the C.I. [Constitutional Instrument] 109 which will pave way for the referendum on the creation of new regions.
According to them, the House cannot debate the approval of the C.I. when MPs do not have copies of the Justice Brobbey Commission of Enquiry report, which recommended the creation of the new regions.
Even though the minority in Parliament were raising objections, the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye allowed the debate to continue and subsequently approved the report forcing them to stage a walkout.
Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu explained that they are not against the creation of the new regions but they needed the report to guide them.
