It's clearly a tit-for-tat affair now as Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, urges members and supporters of the opposition party to take up arms and face off with the ruling party in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Speaking on UTV moments after the NDC's press conference to officially announce their boycott of the ongoing bye-election in the constituency, Sammy Gyamfi decried attacks on their supporters by some faceless security personnel he believes to be members of a vigilante group with strong leanings towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
UTV Reporter, Prince Ahenkan, giving a field report earlier in the day, narrated that some assailants stormed the Bawaleshie Presby polling station in a bid to prevent the electorates from voting because they suspected foul play.
The Police, including personnel from the defunct SWAT team confronted them, leading to a massive misunderstanding which later resulted in the shooting incident that left about six people (said to be members of the opposition party) injured.
At a press conference organised by the NDC at about midday, an incensed Sammy Gyamfi, summoned party members to active hostilities against the NPP at the various electoral areas within the constituency.
“People should know that under the constitution of Ghana, the law gives everybody the right to defend themselves. Our members, who have been attacked and injured, as we speak now, some have been incarcerated in cells. As we speak now, they’re still chasing people into the bush . . . All those people should defend themselves. If you have a gun, defend yourselves. Defend yourself if you have a machete. Defend yourself with anything you carry on you. If you have a bow and arrow, defend yourself,” he called to arms.

I thought the NDC said they are boycotting the elections so what are they doing there. Asem sebe.
ndc and lies lace with propaganda they know they are loosing so they are doing every thing possible to discredit the election, ediots
Sammy Gyamfi, you must us in this battle...na nea ma te tee te. You were your suit and sit in an airconditioned office and issue spurious directives for people to go and fight. As the commander in chief, you should be at the fore front of the battle.. you and Elder Ofosu Ampofo. Did he OA say NDC has boycotted the election? That was your game plan since Tuesday-- you claim the EC has bloated the voters' register..your lawyer Amaliba was shouting on the rooftop to that effect. NPP has gone through several hostile by-elections but fought on without quitting. I hate what happened at the polling station, and it's sad that some people were assaulted and shot at, and I pray that the perpetrators are brought to book. But it's wrong as the general sec, and by extension your chairman, to use one instance at a polling station to call for a boycott of an election. That's wrong, young man!!!
I have always thought this small boy is an ***barred word***. Why is not at the forefront????
When i listen to people calling their President name i feel very sad.I want to know what kind of upbringing some of our youth leaders got.Sammy G.you don't know what it takes to build a country and wants it to be destroyed because you've been promised Ministerial position by you words.Ask those of us who were in a war torn country. You will never wish it to our mother land Ghana.
It is your drunkard father who is bastard.Think before you come out with garbage.Danduruwa
This Government proved to us that we all must hold a protected gun, to defend yourself, i am going for one and that one is specially for Ken Agyapong and Akuffo Addo the 2 bastards in Ghana
orchestrated what, to kill their own people, to attack their own MP, Sam George. Reason, this is simple logic just for some seat in parliament. Shame. Liar
So how does this guy know that those injured are NDC members. Were they wearing NDC attire? People should fear NDC paaaa. I don't trust this guy.
My brother you mean you won't defend yourself if you have to, to save your life, after all what are those in power saying. No NPP person is condemning the act but rather accusing NDC. Is that fair and you are here typing what?
