Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined some African leaders who are congratulating Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election as President of Nigeria.
Mr. Buhari who contested on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in 19 out of the 36 states, grabbing 15.2 million votes.
The 76-year-old defeated his main rival, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), with a margin of just under four million votes.
In a Facebook post, Mahama said “congratulations to H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all friends in the APC on your successful re-election for another 4-year term.”
Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo of Ghana, Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger, and Macky Sall of Senegal, have all sent congratulatory messages to Muhammadu Buhari.
