Security Analyst, Irbard Ibrahim has said emphatically that there is no cause for alarm on the leaked tape of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo because his words don’t necessary mean planning for violence.
A leaked audio circulating on social media purported to be the voice of NDC’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is creating ‘fear and panic’ ahead of the 2020 General elections.
The leaked tape which is believed to be from a meeting held at the NDC’s headquarters days after the infamous Ayawso West Wuogon by-election violence, captures leading members of the opposition party allegedly planning strategies the NDC will use to regain power in 2020.
National Chairman, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, who could be heard speaking to some party members without equivocation, noted the NDC will target lives of NPP members in 2020 since state security cannot protect them.
According to him, another delicate aspect to win the 2020 election is targeting the EC Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa.
”We must wage a relentless war on this EC Chair, me she doesn’t want to see my face . . .” he told the party gathering.
Irbard Ibrahim reacting on his facebook page said; “The use of the word 'tactical' should not raise any apprehension. It takes tact and due diligence to win an election.”
“State intel and security agencies are free to invite him and others on the quiet to ascertain the veracity of the tapes and give some clarity and context to them.”

It is not necessary at all to create alarm where there is none. Covert and overt actions, as the Chair of the NDC put it, in the electoral space don't necessarily mean planning violent activities. People should go about their daily activities. There is no cause for alarm.
The use of the word 'tactical' should not raise any apprehension. It takes tact and due diligence to win an election.
State intel and security agencies are free to invite him and others on the quiet to ascertain the veracity of the tapes and give some clarity and context to them.
The media should stop alarmist reportage because there is no cause for alarm at all. The media should spend its energy mobilizing people to get to work to increase Ghana's productivity. The usual early morning ' Hello. Did you hear what party A said about your party? What will you do to counter?....... This doesn't help at all.
We all worked tirelessly towards a peaceful 2016 election and I have no doubt that Election 2020 will even be more peaceful Godwilling.
The Commission of Inquiry is still sitting so eventually we'll adopt the right mechanisms as a country to tackle the issue of 'weaponization' of party youth.
