Former President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the Nana Akufo-Addo led- government, compared to any other government, is an obstacle to the country’s development.
Addressing the chiefs and people of the Asutifi North Constituency at the district capital, Hwidiem, as part of a two-day tour to the Ahafo Region to congratulate the traditional leaders and people for voting massively for its creation, former President Mahama explained that per the 1992 Constitution, a new president must ensure to continue to complete all projects in all sectors for the good people of Ghana before commencing new ones, yet His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his team have totally ignored the law, which ignorance and apathy is really affecting the people.
According to him, former presidents of the country, namely JJ Rawlings, JA Kufuor, the late JEA Mills and himself respected the constitution by tackling such projects before touching on new ones in accordance with their manifestos, but the current President is going astray and needs to be brought back on track.
JDM, as the former President has become known, said as a result of President Akufo-Addo’s attitude, most projects, which are of major benefits to the people irrespective of political affiliation, have been abandoned, thus, denying the people the right to have improved living conditions.
He added that most Ghanaians are bitterly complaining of this behaviour of the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, and that it is time it was told to do the right thing to improve the lot of the people, especially those in the rural areas.
Former President Mahama said the Hwidiem-Kenyasi road, which was nearing completion to serve a major purpose to the residents, is now left unattended, resulting in the huge quantum of dust, while drivers are contending with the purchase of new spare parts on a daily basis, a situation he described as “unfair to the people.”
He further said there are no limitations to what the President and the government are doing when it comes to neglecting good projects started by the previous government, saying it is really annoying, and called on Ghanaians to speak against it.
The former President, who is also the flagbearer of the biggest opposition political party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), pointed out that he had not on any occasion said he would cancel the Free Senior High School initiative introduced by the NPP.
According to him, the double track system is not helping the education system, and hinted that the NDC would amend it when elected in 2020.
The former President, in the company of the National Chairman of the NDC, General Secretary, National Organiser and other top NDC executives toured all the six constituencies, namely Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Asutifi South, Asutifi North, Tano North, and Tano South.
The entourage had earlier visited Tanoso, Duayaw Nkwanta, Techimantia, Bechem, Sienkyiem, Hwidiem, Sankore, Kwapong, Kukuom, Mim, Goaso, Kenyasi and Ntotroso.

FOR ONCE , JM IS RIGHT. NPP FAILING GRADUALLY....
Oh Mahama!!! Why are you always shedding CROCODILE TEARS? You had the opportunity but made corruption your priority. You will never get close to the Presidency again. You time has expired. Find another job. Period!!!
Hahahaha, This man is not OK !!
According to Mahama, former presidents of the country, namely JJ Rawlings, JA Kufuor, the late JEA Mills and HIMSELF respected the constitution by tackling such projects before touching on new ones in accordance with their manifestos, but the current President is going astray and needs to be brought back on track. THE ABOVE STATEMENT COMMING FROM MR. MAHAMA IS A BIG L I E. So far, from his two visits to the western and Bono regions tells me he has no massage.
These are some of the mistakes of the NDC. What at all will this man say to convince Ghanaians. The man himself is a worse offender of all the things he is complaining about. That's why you should have listened to J J Rawlings to bring on a new candidate with fresh and untainted ideas. That would have made it easier for campaign. But who cause am? Greediness and selfishness.
Mr. Mahama, I think you need a complete rest from partisan politics. The Accra- Kumasi Highway was started during President Kuffuor's era. the late Atta Mills made no effort to continue this project but only went to the site to shed crocodile tears about the state of the road. When you took over what did you do on this particular Highway? You decided to concentrate on the Eastern Corridor Highway only for you to enjoy from Kanasore? the Burkinabe road contractor collecting bribes here and there. You did not see the Accra Kumasi Highway as a project to benefit Ghanaians. You decided to construct the so called 'Dubai' at the Nkrumah Circle which is now causing flooding all over the place. We still remember the June 3rd 2015 twin disaster. If projects are to be continued, WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE ACCRA KUMASI HIGHWAY UNDONE?
