The former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Allotey Jacob has advised the party’s national executive to stop wasting time and resources on press conferences and rather get down to the grass roots to work.
According to the experienced politician that is the only way the party’s base can be galvanized to ensure victory in the upcoming 2020 election.
His comments come on the back of a press conference held by the NDC on Tuesday during which they reiterated their claim of nepotism against President Akufo-Addo, this time, backing it up with names and pictures.
The Communications Director of the NDC Sammy Gyamfi named some 51 individuals who are directly related or close to people around the President and have been appointed to positions in the administration.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the press, among Akufo-Addo’s uncountable relatives in government, is Nana Asante Bediatuo, his cousin from Kyebi, who serves as his Executive Secretary. Bediatuo is not alone! He is joined in government by his father, Kofi Darko Asante, who chairs the Governing Council of GIMPA, his mother, Mrs Vida Asante, who is the head of the Presidential Household and his brother, Kwesi Kuntu Asante, who sits on the Board of Ghana Hostels. In addition, Nana Asante Bediatuo’s sister, Lauretta Asante (marital name, Otchere), is one of the three Deputy Directors-General at SSNIT who have been appointed by this government.
“Other relatives of President Akufo-Addo who currently occupy various positions in his government include, Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance; Samuel Atta Akyea, Works and Housing Minister; and Kwesi Amoako Atta, Minister of Roads and Highways, all of whom are cousins of the President.
Friends from the media, in an unprecedented move, President Akufo-Addo has made his own daughter, Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, a member of the Creative Arts Council,” the party said.”
But Allotey Jacob speaking on Kokrokoo show Wednesday monitored by Kasapafmonline.com questioned what impact of the press conference, adding that there’s more work to be done on the grounds.
‘The National officers of the NDC should get to the grounds, go to the constituencies and grounds and go to the constituencies and branches and interact with the party members uring them to move from house to house to campaign. Ahead of 2004 elections, we[NDC] went round the country screaming Ghanaians are suffering under then-President Kufuor, but still he won the elections. That must be a lesson to us, this is my advice to the national executives. I believe our NDC party has a research department, let’s find out if the NPP’s claims that then-President government was that of family and friends contributed to their victory or not. Then we can say that the NDC press conference held yesterday can have an impact otherwise as an organizer I advise that we must rather be on the grounds and work hard to win the 2020 election.”

If the NDC does not stop this crazy, psychotic utterances and tell Ghanaians something better, they would be in opposition for a long, long time.
Peace fm and Kwame Sefa Kayi would have sacked Allotey Jacobs from the station if he was an NPP member who has turn against his own party. Now that he is supporting the president against the NDC, they are giving him the platform to continue. Hypocrisy everywhere.
I really support Allottey to some extent but no entirely, what are bringing on board which is different from what NPP is doing. This trivialities will difficult to win us power. Election in the country is gradually becoming complicated and the parties with strong and dynamic leaders will win the election. Our should be the message which include programs , policies, which are going to be incorporated in our Manifesto. Time isn’t on side, barely less a year to elections, the question is: The question is: Are Ghanaians convince enough for the 2020 election? And our attitude of insulting our leaders even if we don’t share their opinion should be stopped. Yesterday it was Rawlings, today is Allottey, well let’s continue if this is the way to go
Another stomach superstar of a politician I hope de ndc is watching u just don't give position to people who follow their stomach but people who are committed and have love and respect for each other what haf Mr allotey got to do about ndc nothing he intact wat to see ndc disintegrate but dat wish will never happen he should rather behave well and advise himself because ndc has move on without some of dem
Mr Jacobs u dont know thats why Nana has lost the fight against corruption which is the number cause of underdevelopment anywhere? This 5:4:3:2:1 system
The only stupiiid and foolishhh person on this platform is only you and your entire family members and John Mahama aka John Ford aka TIO.
Wow Akyem Mafia5 Am very shocked you can write something like this about an elderly person. I guess you have parents and you can't address them by all those name calling. Respect will take you very far.
@Akyem mafia5: I hope you are you now satisfied after insulting an elderly person this way. It looks like the youth of today think that whatever they write on social media will not be counted against them on the day of judgement because they cannot be traced by any person. You are allowing the politics of a small country like Ghana to make you lose your salvation. How long will Nana Addo stay in power? A word to the wise ...
The most stupiiid and foolishhh president in Ghana is Akufo Addo. He look like a monkey. Is not this Monkey fault. Is central Region
Frankly speaking this ***barred word*** Oldman has lost his value. Accusing Nana Addo and bringing out evidence to expose him to the good people of Ghana to see how nepotic and corrupt Nana Addo is, is part of the work towards elections 2020.
