Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has fiercely challenged former President John Dramani Mahama to mention just one legacy he left for the North during his reign as President of the Republic from 2012-2016.
Dr. Bawumia threw the challenge on Sunday 24th November 2019 when he joined the Chiefs and people of Nandom Traditional Area to celebrate the 31st annual Kakube Festival at Nandom in the Upper West Region.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bawumia questioned: “H.E John Mahama should tell Ghanaians one legacy that he left in Northern Ghana, just one when he was President for four and half years. What legacy did he leave?
"Is it the SADA that he left as a legacy for the North or it's the Guinea fowls that he left for Northerners" he rhetorically quizzed.
Vice President Bawumia noted that President Kwame Nkrumah left a legacy, Prime Minister Busia left a legacy, President Rawlings left a legacy, President Kufuor introduced the NHIS, free maternal health care, National School Feeding Programme, the LEAP Programme, Youth Employment Authority (YEA), Metro Mass amongst others.
"President Akufo- Addo has introduced the Planting for Food and Jobs, Free SHS, One Village One Dam, Zongo Development Fund, Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJ), One Constituency One Ambulance, One District One Factory, One District One Warehouse. The construction of the Pwalugu Dam will also start this year. In addition, the President has brought peace to Dagbon and created two new regions (Savannah and North East). These are legacies President Akufo- Addo will be leaving after his tenure as President. What legacies can former President Mahama point to?" he asked.
The “Kakube” Festival is celebrated to mark the end of the farming season each year and to show appreciation to God for his guidance and protection during the farming season.
Since the festival historically takes its roots from agriculture, Dr Bawumia used the occasion to assess agricultural productivity in the three years of President Akufo-Addo’s government in the Nandom district to see the progress so far.
He recounted from some of the government’s agricultural-related flagship programmes such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, Rearing for Food and Jobs, and One Village, One Dam, noting that the results were encouraging.
"For instance 12,711 farmers are benefiting under the Planting for Food and Jobs with a total cropped area of 18,014 hectares. Also, as a result of the subsidised fertilisers, seeds and other farm inputs provided by the government together with the timely sensitisation of farmers on agronomic practices by MOFA staff, there has been a quantum leap in crop yield in the Nandom Municipality. Farming season crop yield in the Municipality increased by 30% in 2018," the Vice President stated.
"Under the Planting for Export and Rural Development, so far a total of 68,000 cashew seedlings/seeds have been procured and distributed to about 600 farmers in 33 communities across the district. This intervention is expected in the long run to be a reliable source of income for farmers," he added.

Truth be told NPP are smart politicians but in reality they achieve littlie with much resources. 1.The free education thing is ***barred word***. 2. the one village one dam is just a sloganeering policy. The dams are not meaningful Dams. 3.One district one Factory is also a sham. 4. The restoration of Teachers and Nurses allowance where nurses will not be engage to work at the numerous hospitals has defeated that purpose. The teachers are not being engaged after college education. 5. Mahama hard very littlie oil money and took much smaller loans yet we can see his project every where Mr. Vice President what have you done with our oil money and the unprecedent loans you have borrowed so far?
truth be told , mahama have no legacy
Mr. Vice President. Why do you like asking annoying questions and fo-lish questions. You are very eloquent in lying. Please stop embarrassing your family. As your president what his legacy is. This your free education thing does not make sense so long as it is not targeted at the poor so stop boosting about it. Why do you pay school fees for the rich who send their children on vacation on first class ticket does it make sense to you?
*OPEN LETTER TO DR MAHMOUD BAWUMIA* *EX PRESIDENT MAHAMA DID A LOT FOR NOTHENERS* Boutrous Andy ..................................... I write this letter to you with a lot of hesitation and reluctance. This is precisely because of what you have become as vice President of Ghana. A vice President in all over the world is second in command, he's respected and wields a certain measure of controlling power both in Government and party circles. This is never so in your case but let me slide this, for another day. In other not to sound too verbose and loquacious, let me get into the reason why I have decided to write to you. Dr, i understand that, you joined the people of Nandom to celebrate their 31st annual kabube festival. In this visit and during your speech you fiercely challenged former President John Mahama to mention just ONE legacy he left for the people of the North during his reign as President of the Republic of Ghana from 2012- 2016. You see, I am holding myself not to be uncharitable, unsavoury in my comments. My late father always tells me something which has never left me. He said the most dangerous thing in this world isn't ignorance, or lack of knowledge but conscientious ***barred word***. He goes further to say that, it's very possible to be educated, yet conscientiously ***barred word***. I have not said anything. *What legacy did Mahama leave for the people of the North?* I can point to many projects done by John Mahama in his 3 years, 3 months as President .Now read on. 1. The 60 bed Salaga Hospital was started and completed by Mahama. 2. The upper East Regional hospital in Bolga was built by John Mahama 3. The fufulso- sawla road was constructed by John Mahama. 4. The over 96 chp compounds across the three northern regions was built by Mahama. 5. The Almighty Tamale airport was again built by John Mahama. 6. Under President Mahama, over 400 communities in the north were connected to the national grid. 7. Of course the Tamale- Salaga- mankanga raod can't be forgotten. 8. The West Gonja district hospital was also built by John Mahama. 9. John Mahama again built the Wa regional hospital to serve the good people of the north. 10. Lastly but not the least is the Tamale teaching hospital, again it was built by President Mahama. Dr Bawumia, so you see, you asked for only ONE legacy of President Mahama but I have given you ten (10) and there are more which I feel lazy to list them right now. Let me also ask you, what have you also done for your people since you became the vice President apart from giving them rotten foods? Zilch. In fact what have you done for the people Ghana since you assumed office? Zilch. You have taxed Ghanaians far more than Kufour, Mills, Rawlings and Mahama put together. You have gotten more domestic revenue more than any other Government in the history of Ghana. You have again borrowed from our donor community over Ghc85 billion with nothing to show for it. If you put together these domestic and external borrowing together, you will be getting about Ghv170 billion. More than half of this amount have been spent on consumption and chop chop. Any serious Government will rather spend same on captal investments. The free shs which you make noise about is in great mess. The world bank human capital index in its 2019 report has placed Ghana in the last but one position. In other words we were only able to beat Niger in that latest ranking. Dr, I am off but let me leave you with a opposition leader, Keith Rowley. " Anytime a Government resorts to blaming the opposition for its failures to deliver on their mandate, responsibilities to the people, it's a clear sign that, they have accepted that they have outlined their usefulness" Yours in service to Ghana Boutrous Andy
massa, do your job and leave Mahama alone
Since Ndc is perpetually unemployed they are all the social media inciting people against the government. Ghanaians know Ndc DNA of propaganda and nkrofuo.

Which institution even awarded this SENSELESS Bawumia a PhD? You just talk and kept exposing your incompetences and mismanagement .. Why are have u shifted the argument from interest rates today? Why have you shifted the argument from corruption? Why have you shifted the argument from job creation? Why have you shifted the argument from excessive borrowing? Why have you shifted the debate from PDS scandal? Why have you shifted the argument from family and friends government? Why have you shifted the argument from BOST scandals.. Bawumia...keep quite and stop disturbing innocent Ghanaians. You only talk without any senses...
