George Andah, Deputy Minister for Communications has reiterated that there will be no internet shutdown in the country.
Reports that emerged indicated that government is contemplating shutting down the internet prior to the December elections because of the abuse of social media.
However, contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo', George Andah said “shutting down the internet is not an option; it’s about regulating or being responsible in the use of the internet. The caution is that if we are not responsible maybe there will be no option than to regulate the use of the internet but shutting down the internet before during or after the election is not an option; it’s not even on the table . . . it was misreporting.”
