Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Social Policy Studies, at the University of Ghana, Dr. George Domfe, has described the Ghanaian economy as useless for its reliance and over-dependence on other nations for support.
Dr. George Domfe was also critical of the way the country produces many natural resources without any attempt to export finish goods but only the raw products.
The economist angrily stated that Ghana since 1957 has been involved in the same routine and ways of transacting business, the number one challenge preventing the growth required of the natiuon.
“The Ghanaian economy is a useless economy because since 1957 till now it has been involved in business as usual without any new policy initiatives introduced to disentangle it from where we have always been,” he said.
Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion show, he stressed that the amount of cocoa alone produced in this country should be a yardstick for macro and micro economic growth, making life comfortable for the citizenry.
The economist praised President Akufo-Addo for putting up massive policies towards the growth of local business which will as well curb the high level of unemployment in the country, which has become a major challenge in the country due to the collapse of private businesses.
“We have a lot of natural resources in this country that should make us live good and better lives. All we know is to go for reckless loans for little developments just make citizens happy because they do not understand the consequences it comes with due to the low level of educational background,” he said.

Another irresponsible so-called economist
These are the people who make the Ghanaian economy use!ess since 1957. People in academia (technocrats) have been very bad to this nation. See this man..he just mentioned Ghana's problem which even an SHS economic student knows like that without going a setp further to tell us what we can do to come out from our economic canker. Mr research fellow please provide managers of the economy new ideas and solutions. Even if they don't take your solution still stay by it and advocate for it. Definitely someone somewhere will see the sense in it and adopt. WE ARE FED-UP WITH ALWAYS POINTING FINGERS AT THE PROBLEM!! GIVE US SOLUTIONS
THIS IS USE.LESS TALK
Ghanaian economy is "***barred word***" because of "***barred word***" economist like you who have contributed nothing or "***barred word***" suggestions and theories. Tell us any innovative idea you have contributed to the growth of Ghanaian economy.
ooooh massa Domfe, why not sit in your one corner to enjoy your restored research allowance. You want Ghanaians to discern on you. I feel pity for you, and i feel bad for you the way people talking about you. Ghanaians are very intelligent, look at the questions people are asking, intelligent and very relevant questions. As a research fellow, economist, etc..you have been there all these while and have not offered any measures... oooh massa Domfe... why do u people kraa worry yourself like this...Is it by force you talk.
The Ghanaian economy is a ***barred word*** economy because since 1957 till now it has been involved in business as usual without any new policy initiatives introduced to disentangle it from where we have always been
Look at another attention seeker who want to enjoy some Mahama's ill gotten money. He look like a certain truck pusher at Kantamanto. Now the very government you are bashing has restored your research allowance so you can talk non***barred word***.Tell this to the dogs daawa konko.
A Research Fellow? What have you put into practice as an Economist to improve the economy of Ghana. Our farmers are contributing their quota by producing food and crops for local consumption and export. What research have you done as Research Fellow to improve the Economy except that you are paid from the efforts of others at the end of every month. Parasite like you
How can a supposed Research Fellow of UG talk like that? The same statements that are made at the Palmwine joint is what a supposed academic is making. Sadly he the academic cannot even offer one solution or policy proposal to remedy what he perceives as a "***barred word*** economy". I wonder what such people are paid for to do in our universities. But one thing is certain and that is the fact the an economy that has been ***barred word*** since 1957 has been able to produce a research fellow only that that research fellow is a disgrace to the economy.
This is not something that will be achieved in a day, it is not going to be achieved in a year. In fact, after World War II, Germany took 30 years to clear their waters. What a joke!!! This woman is not fit for a minister. Hajia Alima Mahama is calling for public support and commitment towards the fight against illegal small-scale mining and the preservation of the country’s water bodies.
