James Kofi Annan, the founder of Challenging Heights, and a major financier of the NPP in the Effutu Constituency, has resigned from the party, and joined the NDC.
In a letter to the party, dated July 1, 2019, the human rights activist indicated that he was resigning from the party, with immediate effect. He further attached his previous party membership card numbers 0164570 issued in the year 2007, and CR1281001EFFA5 issued in 2012.
James Kofi Annan recently stepped down from Challenging Heights, a child rights organization he himself founded over 15 years ago. It is believed that he is eyeing the Effutu seat in Parliament.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, James Kofi Annan indicated that he has suffered so much in the hands of the party in Effutu, although he has sacrificed so much for the party since his Legon days. He cited several instances of attacks, victimization, and threats to his life and his businesses.
James Kofi Annan was a pioneer member of TESCON (Legon Chapter), the campus Chapter of the NPP. His contemporaries were Honorable Isaac Asiamah (the current Minister of Youth and Sports), and Andy Appiah-Kubi, the current Deputy Minister of Railways, both pioneer members of TESCON.
Commenting further on why he joined the NDC, James Kofi Annan who until recently was a United Nations Global Financial Sector Commissioner, said the NDC in power was not vindictive, even though they knew he was an NPP person, but rather they gave him all the needed support to establish his businesses, and increased his projects.
"I did a lot to help Afenyo-Markin and the NPP. Yet when they assumed power, Afenyo-Markin has been allowed to do a lot to destroy everything that is associated with me, and to destroy Winneba, particularly the University of Education, Winneba, and the festivals of the town. I now feel more at home with the NDC,” he said.

James, I know you as a smart guy, but I am not sure if you took into account prior information about people who switched camps just because they want to become MP--specifically for Efutu. Efutu has two clear examples. First, General Nunoo Mensah wanted to become MP for Efutu, so he switched camp from NPP to NDC...the rest is history. Second. Mr. Aboagye..(Advanced stars fame)...He likewise wanted to become an MP for Efutu, so he also switched camp from NPP to NDC....the rest is history. I will wait patiently to complete the 3rd slot. To be continued.
so for 8 solid months, the new party you joined could not even announce your presence in their fold. And the letter stated with immediate effect? Immediate effect waits for 8 months? Please you may have to go back to Legon for level 200 lectures. Anyway, welgo to your new found love. A party whose founder has rejected them, whose founders wife broke away to form a new party, whose members have been labelled as C0rruPt, Gr33dy Bastards and Baies with Sharp Teeth by their won founder and you choose to join them? Then I guess you are c0rrUpt, a Gr33dy Bastard or with a Sharp Teeth but because you could not practice all that in the NPP, you have found it necessary to join those to practise what you know and can do best. Good luck but when you find sense, come back home. Enjoy your stay with Airbus moguls. Hahahahaaaaa.....
Who cares he can decide whatever, it does not add anything to the progress of the country only mischievous and selfish interest.
You've made a good choice sir. Fight for Ghana and not a particular tribe... Very smart move!
But the letter was dated July 1, 2019?. So why make news of it now? Anyway, there are only two things involved when politicians switch camp. 1. Either he/she was a mole in the previous camp or 2. He/she is going to be a mole in the new camp.
This is no news because the PC for the area declined to contest because of victimization of the NDC, am aware of how some NDC guys have been pushing for your agenda. You will make impact in the coming elections but you cant win. Check the couple of articles you have been publishing concerning efutu. It all directed to one person, that is the MP. You think same will not be done to you if you become MP?
WHAT IS THIS BUT A MISCHIEF. YOU ARE SAID TO HAVE RESIGNED SINCE JULY 1, 2019 WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, A CLEAR 7-8 MONTHS AND CLOSE TO A YEAR AND YOU ARE NOW ANNOUNCING YOUR RESIGNATION. YOU ARE CITING several instances of attacks, victimization, and threats to his life and his businesses WITHOUT GIVEN SPECIFIC EVIDENCES. WHAT WERE YOU LOOKING FOR IN THE NPP THAT YOU DID NOT GET, AND YOU PITIFULLY ALLOW YOURSELF, IF THE STORY AS PUT UP IS TRUE, TO BE DECEIVED BY THE NDC MACHINERY. NO AMOUNT OF NEFAROUS MACHANISMS WILL LET THE NPP LOOSE THAT SEAT YOU HAVE EYED FOR THE NDC. WHAT A MISCHIEF THIS IS.
Thanks now you know the most vindictive party in Ghana. They destroy anything that disagree with them. As the Legend Bob Marley said Time alone will tell
Perhaps NDC want you as their VP hence you leaving NPP.
MY PHYSICS TEACHER IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL (NOT SHS) OLD DAYS USED TO SAY THAT ONLY F_OOOLS DON'T CHANGE THEIR MINDS. NDC REMAINS A VERY FRIENDLY PARTY TO ASSOCIATE WITH. IT IS NOT A PARTY OF FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BUT ANYTIME ANYWHERE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF GHANA IS WHAT THE NDC STANDS FOR. NOT WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE PARTY BUT WHAT CAN YOU BRING ON BOARD TO HELP MOTHER GHANA.
