Freelance investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni says providing him free water supply won't influence his vote as his convictions have nothing to do with President Nana Akufo-Addo's directive for water bills to be absorbed by government for the next three months.
According to him, even if the government supplies water for four years, he remains resolute on his principles for voting for a particular candidate.
"My water bill is a fraction of what I spend on data every month. So if you provide free water for me for the four years, it will not influence my vote. I have my priority areas when it comes to good governance and what will inform my voting decision'', he stated.
He sent a strong message to his critics who think he will "sell'' his vote because of the President's intervention stressing he has "a decent job and I have never had the problem of paying my water bills...But it will be wrong on my part to assume that everyone is like me. So let's allow those who will be swayed by the three-month free water to express their joy and their political loyalty. In the same way, let's allow those who think this cannot undo whatever bad governance (real or perceived) that they have been subjected to under this government to express themselves''.
Manasseh Azure, in a Facebook post, however commended President Akufo-Addo .
"The President's decision to provide free water for the next three months (with our tax) is a good idea. It's commendable because it will help a lot of people in these difficult times.''

THE FREE WATER POLITICS AND WHY OTHERS MUST NOT SHUT UP
The President's decision to provide free water for the next three months (with our tax) is a good idea. It's commendable because it will help a lot of people in these difficult times.
There's, however, one thing I want to point out to those who are politicising it and hurling insults at those who do not think it's a strong political weapon.
By the grace of God, I have a decent job and I have never had the problem of paying my water bills. My main problem has been that the pipeline to my house is dry most of the time.
My water bill is a fraction of what I spend on data every month. So if you provide free water for me for the four years, it will not influence my vote. I have my priority areas when it comes to good governance and what will inform my voting decision.
But it will be wrong on my part to assume that everyone is like me. So let's allow those who will be swayed by the three-month free water to express their joy and their political loyalty. In the same way, let's allow those who think this cannot undo whatever bad governance (real or perceived) that they have been subjected to under this government to express themselves.
To try to shut others up because they are not on the bandwagon of praise singing is wrong. It's undemocratic. And it infringes on their right to free speech and free expression.

My comment is easy and simple. Just look the inscription in front of ur Tshirt.
So? is someone begging you to vote for Nana? Give me a break
Is it compulsory for you come here and write a comment at all? Hypocrite!
Ah! Is it a compulsion that you should talk at all? The inscription on your attire is not a true reflection of who you really are. In this covid era, you are still thinking and talking this way? I hope to hear a rebuttal from you that you’ve been impersonated. This is NOT, NOT....In fact, absolutely unnecessary! I’m really satisfied with the bashing you are receiving. You deserve it and more...
@Maame you leave them alone! They don't even realize that "it is not all cry that you open your mouth for tears to come out". Nana is silently campaigning and deep down he knows it. But the truth is NDC would have done same as they won sympathy votes when Atta Mills died a few months to elections. I won't blame the politicians but the clueless and "ignoorant" electorates who can't even decide between good and bad! You can see by the comments some of them have passed. Some one like @yao is perhaps a stark illiterate and honestly none of these people making these terrible comments about Manasseh don't even know him well. You call some one who has won Journalist of the year award on merit a couple of times and several international awards and recognition ,unintelligent? Abaa! Or I smell jealousy here! Or it is an insult to all the awarding institutions and bodies. These insults will come back to hunt them but as it is often said of Ghanaians , they have short memories.
Lockdown is not for votes. Lockdown is to ensure the poor don't get the chance to infect the elite because for Nana Addo and his Cabinet, Covid will kill all of them because of their age. But once a cure is found, say in Europe and their hospitals are free, there'll be no lockdown. They'll just fly there for treatment when they get infected. The poor have reason to support the lockdown but I hope they see the bigger picture too - the lockdown is to preserve the rich
You're free to vote for whoever you choose to it's your right but unfortunately for you, you have only one vote.
This guy is too infantile in his thinking. What has the measures announced by the president got to do with voting? Did the president ask for your vote?
If you think you an ace journalist, i bet to differ. You nothing but poor, unintelligent person struggling to be seen
look at the inscription in front of your T-shirt. Don't make a ***barred word*** out of yourself.Yes, you have the freedom of speech but don't be ***barred word***. Who needs your vote? ***barred word*** kwa.
