Freelance investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni says providing him free water supply won't influence his vote as his convictions have nothing to do with President Nana Akufo-Addo's directive for water bills to be absorbed by government for the next three months.
According to him, even if the government supplies water for four years, he remains resolute on his principles for voting for a particular candidate.
"My water bill is a fraction of what I spend on data every month. So if you provide free water for me for the four years, it will not influence my vote. I have my priority areas when it comes to good governance and what will inform my voting decision'', he stated.
He sent a strong message to his critics who think he will "sell'' his vote because of the President's intervention stressing he has "a decent job and I have never had the problem of paying my water bills...But it will be wrong on my part to assume that everyone is like me. So let's allow those who will be swayed by the three-month free water to express their joy and their political loyalty. In the same way, let's allow those who think this cannot undo whatever bad governance (real or perceived) that they have been subjected to under this government to express themselves''.
Manasseh Azure, in a Facebook post, however commended President Akufo-Addo .
"The President's decision to provide free water for the next three months (with our tax) is a good idea. It's commendable because it will help a lot of people in these difficult times.''

THE FREE WATER POLITICS AND WHY OTHERS MUST NOT SHUT UP
The President's decision to provide free water for the next three months (with our tax) is a good idea. It's commendable because it will help a lot of people in these difficult times.
There's, however, one thing I want to point out to those who are politicising it and hurling insults at those who do not think it's a strong political weapon.
By the grace of God, I have a decent job and I have never had the problem of paying my water bills. My main problem has been that the pipeline to my house is dry most of the time.
My water bill is a fraction of what I spend on data every month. So if you provide free water for me for the four years, it will not influence my vote. I have my priority areas when it comes to good governance and what will inform my voting decision.
But it will be wrong on my part to assume that everyone is like me. So let's allow those who will be swayed by the three-month free water to express their joy and their political loyalty. In the same way, let's allow those who think this cannot undo whatever bad governance (real or perceived) that they have been subjected to under this government to express themselves.
To try to shut others up because they are not on the bandwagon of praise singing is wrong. It's undemocratic. And it infringes on their right to free speech and free expression.

DISAPPOINTING. THIS IS A RECKLESS TALK .
Oh boy you are gradually losing fame oo so adjust your mind set.
Gentleman, why have you chosen to surrender the clout around you such easily? No need for this comment. Even presidential candidates NEVER tell anyone who they vote (though people wrongly assume that they vote for themselves). You've lost virtually every good thing around you now. No need for any journalist to be THAT partisan. I'm only writing this because of the headline BUT never bothered to read what you said because you don't attract me anymore. I don't trust ANY of our presidential candidates but it only makes sense for me to keep my cards to my chest ANYTIME. But I believe the president acted in the national interest rather than for political score. Ghanaians cannot stay home and still be able to pay ALL bills. Not too hard against your level of intelligence though. You're still a brilliant gentleman. Best wishes.
who needs your vote. at this time and era why are you politicising issues
When politics influences your thinking, you don't make sense any longer. Stomach journalism.
FELLOW GHANAIANS, PLEASE LET US SHOW SOME LOVE AND STOP BEING INSULTING. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T SIDE WITH MANASSEH FOR THINKING ABOUT VOTES IN THIS ERA, WE SHOULD JAW JAW WITHOUT ABUSIVE WORDS. REMEMBER THAT JESUS LOVES AND CARES FOR ALL. THANK YOU.
But did the government take this policy because of votes ? I don't think so, hence there is no need to create that impression.
ETANI MANESSEH AZURI, WE HAVE ALREADY DECIDED THE PARTY TO VOTE FOR, STOP SPEWING GARBAGE AND RUBBISH FROM YOUR BIG MOUTH OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So must we read politics into everything? People are praying for this virus to end spreading and we are doing politics with it? I least expected someone like Manasseh to make such comment.
You can even refuse to vote who cares hctib. Did Nana Addo ask for votes when he made those concessions. If don't appreciate it, GO TO HELL or ITALY. Ntafuor paaaaaa if it's not Mahama or NDC then it's not worth it. THE BATTLE IS STILL THE LORD'S
