President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged eligible voters to turn out in their numbers to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a resounding and decisive victory in the December 7 elections.

He said the government had delivered on its 2016 campaign promises, as evidenced in its policies and programmes, such as the free Senior High School policy, the One-district, One-factory and the Planting for Food and Jobs initiatives.

President Akufo-Addo, who was speaking at Kwesimintsim in the Western Region as part of his one-day campaign tour of the area, said those interventions had helped to improve on the living standards of the people.

He also made stopovers at Mpohor, Agona Nkwanta, Tarkwa, Bogoso and Akropong, where he introduced the parliamentary candidates for constituencies in those areas.

The President also inaugurated an Astro turf at the Sekondi Methodist Park.

‘Skirt and blouse’

President Akufo-Addo admonished the people not to vote for him and vote for parliamentary candidates other than those standing on the ticket of the NPP, saying: “You must vote for NPP candidates as well because that is what will give us the decisive victory we want.”

“With four more for Nana and the NPP, we will do even more for you. Anyone who has registered and is in possession of a voter ID card should not sit at home and assume that Nana has already won and so he or she won’t vote. If you haven’t voted, Nana hasn’t won,” he added.

According to the President, if the NPP had majority of seats in Parliament, it would strengthen the hands of his government to implement policies and programmes which could propel Ghana onto the path of progress and prosperity.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kyerematen, who was in the President’s entourage, said the government had worked hard to implement many initiatives it intended to carry out and, therefore, deserved a second term to do more.
