Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah has said that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not go into the election of Speaker for the 8th Parliament with any strategy.
Stressing on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Carlos Ahenkorah said that his party failed to act on the intelligence they picked that some of the Members of Parliament in the majority will be bought to vote against the choice of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the election of the next Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
“We did not go into this election of Speaker of Parliament with any strategy. If we went into the election or the inauguration with a strategy, then the strategy did not help the NPP. We sat down for 2 people in the party to vote against the interest of the party,” he furiously stated.
He added that the leadership of his party [NPP] should have strategized going into the election for the next Speaker for the 8th Parliament since it was an important event for President Nana Akufo-Addo and the party as a whole.
