General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has disclosed that there are people in his party who are envying his position.
“You should know that my position as a General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a lot of people are envying for it to boss around. They feel that I am not being bossy enough as they wish to do with the position as General Secretary of the ruling NPP. They wish that I will be ordering people around to show that I am the General Secretary,” he noted.
According to the Chief Scribe of the NPP, the people who are wishing for his position as the General Secretary feel that he is not doing enough as he is not commanding and dictating to people around him.
Reacting to the allegation that the current National Executive of NPP, especially he John Boadu is the cause of the defeat the party suffered in the Parliamentary election, John Boadu said on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that a Review Committee has been set up to look into some of the issues raised.
“We have set up a Review Committee after the election to look into some of the issues raised about how we lost a lot of the seats to the NDC and submit its report, and so I don’t want to put the cart before the horse,” he said.
Without going into the substantive issue, John Boadu reminded his critiques that the current executives of the party are the same people that moved the NPP seats in Parliament from 120 to 169 in 2016.
He added that the current National executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has resourced both the party and its Parliamentary Candidates than any other; thus, every candidate knows the kind of resources that the Executives provided ahead of the 2020 general elections.
"I don’t work alone; I am the General Secretary who doubles as the Operational Director, and sometimes issues that don’t concern me, they blame it on the General Secretary,” he stressed.
“If someone gets angry at his MP and votes skirt and blouse, what has that got to do with me? As we all decided to vote for Nana Addo, if we had voted for the NPP MPs, we will not be having this conversation. So, if out of anger for the party or a certain MP or an individual in the party, you vote skirt and blouse, this is the kind of experience we will be going through,” he fumed.
“Imagine what happened in the Central Region, Nana Addo won in 19 constituencies but the party won only 10 seats . . . Am I the one who put such ideas into their minds?”, he quizzed.
