Former Acting General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh has paid tribute to the the first President of Ghana under the Fourth Republic, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.

The late former President Jerry John Rawlings went home today, January 27.

He was buried at the new Military Cemetery at Burma Camp in the Greater Accra Region.

The Military led a procession carrying his mortal remains to the cemetery.

James Kwabena Bomfeh touted the good leadership of Mr. Rawlings citing some of his legacies to be the rural electrification in the country, major improvement and adjustments to the education system and his transition from an autocratic rule to democracy.c

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, James Kwabena Bomfeh reminisced about the historic accounts of the late former President from his Military rule to constitutional government and his handing over to the next government.

Kabila called on the nation to honor the late President by drawing good lessons from his death.

"Let's draw good lessons from his death and also realize that death awaits all of us," he said.

One significant lesson that Kabila wants to be drawn is for Ghana not to return to the unconstitutional rule.

"The best tribute we can give to Mr. Rawlings is to say never again to that legacy that he overthrew a constitutionally elected government for it not to happen again. No matter how bad a constitutionally elected government may be, we should prefer that to the best Military dictatorship," he exclaimed.
