President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed appreciation in the approval of Finance Minister-designate, Ken Ofori-Atta.
“I commend Parliament for the bi-partisan consensus manner with which it did its work . . . I’m grateful to the House for giving me a good birthday present with the approval of the Minister,” he said during the swearing in of the Finance Minister.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony which was held at the Jubilee House, the President explained why he chose the Finance Minister who was recently vetted and subsequently approved by Parliament.
According to him, “Everyone who watched him on national television, at the committee hearings could understand why I had little choice but to renominate him to serve another four years as Minister for Finance. He provided a staunch defence of his record in office as Finance Minister from February 17, 2017, when he inherited a weak, faltering economy from the Mahama Administration and helped nurse the economy back to good health by January 6, 2021 . . . "
