Mr Ernest Amoah, the Special Aide to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) Michael Okyere Baafi, has stated that Ghanainans should responsible for the former government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under former President John Dramani Mahama for the missing of GH¢ 62,837 belonging to the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).

He stated categorically that the alleged disappearance of GHS 62,837 belonging to the Ghana Free Zones Authority in transit from the Ghana Commercial Bank to the Bank of Ghana occurred in 2016 during the erstwhile NDC government, as documented in the Auditor General's Report.

"My attention has been drawn to a publication by Class 91.3 Fm, an Accra-based radio station, alleging that GH¢ 62,837 belonging to the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) was lost in transit from the Ghana Commercial Bank to the Bank of Ghana.

According to the same publication, the Ghana Free Zone Authority had invested GH¢ 17,342,613.97 in three financial institutions that had their licenses revoked.

But in a quick rebuttal, Mr Amoah stressed that; I would like to state the following facts in response to the foregoing allegations that the alleged disappearance of GHS 62,837 belonging to the Ghana Free Zones Authority in transit from the Ghana Commercial Bank to the Bank of Ghana occurred in 2016 during the erstwhile NDC government, as documented in the Auditor General's Report.

In 2017, he pointed out that the then-CEO of Free Zones testified before the then Public Accounts Committee of Parliament regarding the same. Regrettably, the malicious NDC wishes to create the impression that the aforementioned event occurred in December 2020.

H explained that "As of October 2020, the GFZA's management had recovered every single investment in a financial institution, regardless of whether the institution had collapsed or had its license revoked.

Additionally he noted that "As a result, GFZA has no investments worth GHS 17,342,613.97 in any failed financial institution.

He stressed that "l therefore implore the public to ignore the NDC's ludicrous propaganda."
