Former President John Dramani Mahama has admonished the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) to use the 2024 elections to redeem its image given the circumstances under which the 2020 polls were held.
“A lot of things didn’t go well especially the discovery of extra ballot papers,” he said in an exclusive interview with Media General‘s William Evans-Nkum on Monday, September 13.
“We’ve held elections, we’ve had ECs – from [Dr Kwadwo] Afari Gyan and all that. I’ve never seen people in possession of such authentic ballot papers, same format, everything. There’s no difference. You cannot tell the difference between that ballot paper and what the EC had and they had in possession of the stamp that the EC had.”
The three-time Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) observed it appears the EC is not bothered about the irregularities that characterised the 2020 elections.
“We will just make sure that it doesn’t happen again,” he warned.
The former president was speaking from the Ashanti Region, where he has been in the past couple of days as part of his two-day tour to thank his supporters for the votes in the 2020 elections.
He increased his votes in the Region by almost a double of the votes in 2016.

Awwww! wopana 3d3n asem koraa ni. Hmmmm!!! what at all do you want on the seat of government? eh!!! amanehunu ben koraa ni.
If I close my eyes and listen carefully to Mahama, I barely distinguish between him and a serial caller doing the bid of the NDC propaganda machinery. This, indeed, does not speak very well of a former President of a nation called Ghana. For a former president, vaguely attacking the integrity of the electoral commission on the basis of mere propaganda leaves a great deal to be desired. I think that the good people of Ghana would not forgive Mahama for insulting their intelligence with this act.
What at all does this Incompetent ex-President want? He vilified, chastised & castigated the EC in 2020. JDM, never again at the Presidency of Ghana. Ghanaians deserve better. You can have all the money in the world, but your dishonesty & incompetence will always expose you. Long live Ghana, Long live the EC.
Me Mahama must be called to order. You had the opportunity to prove your case in court with the so called hard core evidence but you couldn’t. He is living in ***barred word***’s paradise
What about 2016 when his excellency Mahama lost almost historical One million vote to his excellency president Akuffu Addo. President Mahama I hope listened to Kabila on Kookrookoo panel discussion last week Wednesday. Kabila made a good analysis of the last four elections and came into conclusion that even when ndc is in majority in parliament, putting together all the parliamentary votes in the entire country the npp always comes on top. Ndc is in the minority but President Mahama is still living in the past thinking that the Npp tradition is still a regional party. Npp is sharing votes in the western north once a stronghold of the ndc. Npp won thirty eight percent in the northern part of the country which was unthinkable in even the early twenties.Just imagine if Bawumia is the candidate for the npp in 2024. Interesting times ahead.
THIS GUY SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT GHANA IS MOVING FORWARD AND THAT GHANAIANS ARE NOT RETROGRESSIVE AS HE PORTRAYS HIMSELF TO BE! YOU CAN NEVER COME TO POWER TO APPROPRIATE GHANA'S RESOURCES TO YOURSELF AND FAMILY
I think Mahama is now losing it. He needs to go for an evaluation. What kind of person goes to court and refuses to produce evidence only to come out and be claiming that there was evidence of rigging. You saw people with extra ballots, did those ballots make it into the boxes? Merely saying you saw people with ballots does not mean anything. And why didn't you mention this in court? You people are now just lying left and right, but people are now getting fed up.
And you couldn't present this incontrovertible evidence to your so called international acclaimed lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata and the Supreme Court to really consider your case.
