NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has described comments made by the Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku-Prempreh about victims of the Keta tidal waves as totally reckless and most bigoted.
He says his statement does not deserve a response.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he appealed to the people of Kumasi not to heed to the reckless clarion call from such a shameless member of parliament, adding such divisive comments retards the development of the country.
"I know the people of Kumasi are very decent, very respectful people who believe in nationhood. I’m sure they will not support the minister’s comments. I’m sure the minister will be the only one to go for the demonstration," he said.
Member of Parliament Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has kicked against a recommendation by the Minority caucus in Parliament, that the Keta Sea Defence project is captured in the 2022 budget.
In an interview with Asempa FM on Thursday, December 2, 2021, the lawmaker said he will personally mobilize residents of Kumasi to hit the streets and express anger against the government if the wish of the minority is granted by the government.
He added that Kumasi has also been experiencing floods but has not been captured in the 2022 budget, therefore, should the Finance Minister include the Keta Sea Defence, he will protest against it.
Reacting to this statement by the lawmaker, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he expects ministers of state to make utterances that will promote unity and stability in the country and not comments that will bring the country into chaos.
He urged Ghanaians not to encourage such reckless comments from the Minister of State as it won't be of help to the country.

It is very intriguing all of a sudden MPs from the volta region are now up in arms regarding Keta sea defence wall. I just cannot think far. Lets go back into time and into debates and urgent questions. How many of such were in reference to Keta Sea defence? We are tired as voltarians of this double standards of these so called MPs. Has presidential jet et all not been the focus of Ablakwah? Interesting times. Bigotry? I shudder. By the way how long is your investigations into the impersonation of Hon. Adjoa Safo going to take or you are filling urgent questions for the clerk?
Ablakwa always want to insight his tribesmen against the NPP government but when others respond in the same direction, he insults them. You can lobby for sea defense to be built like how every MP is doing but you can’t use it as a reason to block the budget approval when other regions are also experiencing similar problems but have decided to lobby in a civilized manner. You gladly approved every budget under your NDC government without considering the Keta sea defense so what has changed?
In Ghana, if you are bold and honest enough to speak your mind, they say you are tribalistic. What is more tribalistic than MPs of one particular party using the approval of the state budget to blackmail the government over a developmental project in one particular region? while the impetus for that project spans multiple regions. What is more irresponsible than that? You start the game of bigotry and turn around to blame others when you get a responsive reaction. That is too ziillly, isn't it?
You NDC Bigots think Ghanaians are ***barred word*** not to read in between your ***barred word***? What did your ndc government do about the sea defense after Kuffour constructed it. You will see what will happen in this country if those ungrateful people are given anything in the budget. you think Ashanti's and Ghanaian lives dont matter? ***barred word*** Okudjeto!!!
Okujato Ablakwa, mister know it all, Napo asked the question about the money previous NDC government sourced purposely for that Keta sea project. Kindly answer that question before slamming Napo. You NDC guys don’t know shame at all. For years you have cheated the people who vote 90% for you and now shouting and barking against the government who never received a single vote from the people. Please close your protruding teeth. It’s very scary
