Former Central regional Chairman of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has blamed the country's leaders for the unbridled activities of galamsey nationwide.
According to him, "there is no political party in this country that can absolve itself from the galamsey activities. There is no Chief in this country because I remember in the late 70s, there was a massive rise of galamsey at Tarkwa Atuabo".
He stressed that galamsey has gained strength making its fight difficult because the leaders pay only lip service to eradicating it.
"We were playing with it; lip talks, lip services are what have driven us to this state today," he said while discussing the menace on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".
