Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation has said that the NPP government doesn't believe in building factories but in providing the enabling environment for people to do so.
"Ideally, NPP government shouldn't be building factories because it goes to the core of our belief," he averred.
The Minister who doubles as a Member of Parliament(MP) for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency speaking in an interview on Neat FM's 'Me Man Nti' programme said if the country will develop in terms of industrialization, individuals must be empowered to build factories.
"Ghana must industrialize but we must enable its citizens to build factories. Factories should be built by individuals and corporate industries, not the government. If Nana Addo decides to build a lot of factories, I will oppose it . . . Nkrumah built a lot of factories and what were the end results? As for factories, the government provides the enabling environment. Government don't need to build factories, it should be Ghanaians," he said.
