NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor-Ngleshie- Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh says the Islamophobic statement allegedly made against Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is “unfortunate” but “untrue”.
Former Member of Parliament for Ayensuano in the Eastern Region, Samuel Ayeh-Paye is alleged to have said in a viral tape discouraging someone not to vote for Bawumia as flagbearer of the NPP on grounds that he is a Muslim.
Reacting to the issue on NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie', Sylvester Tetteh claimed the circulated screenshot is somehow doctored to tarnish the image of the former MP.
“Ayeh-Paye never said don’t vote for Bawumia because he is a Muslim,” he said.
He claimed “Ayeh-Paye has done nothing wrong” to deserve the public backlash.
“Blame the lady who leaked the audio,” he added.
