Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto says a clip from an interview he had on Joy News and circulating on social media where he said "I want to be President because I want to be NPP flagbearer" which was in response to a question on why he wants to become President of Ghana was twisted.
According to him, he never meant his Presidential ambition will satisfy his political party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Afriyie Akoto, who wants to be Presidential candidate of the NPP, in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show Thursday morning, demystified the quote he made in the Joy News interview.
He disclosed that he had an hour interview but for mischievous purposes, that portion was clipped to ridicule him.
He explained the import of his message was that for him to become President of Ghana, he first have to gain the support of his party.
"They twisted it making it seem that I want to be President because of the party. What's the wisdom in this? I'm saying the means by which to become President as I stand here, that is important but the plans I want to implement for things to change and for everyone to be comfortable, that's totally different thing. If I don't become a flagbearer of the party, the things in my head will die in my head. I can't do them for this nation to develop," he said.
