Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, one of the flag bearer aspirants on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), says Ghanaians want him as President more than any other aspirant.
As a result, he says it is his turn to lead the NPP to the 2024 presidential election than any other aspirant.
He said Ghanaians will vote for the NPP to continue with governance after the full two terms in office if Alan is elected to lead.
He was speaking to some members of the NPP in the Oti Region on Friday, July 21, 2023.
Mr. Kyeremanten explained that the party will not only break the '8' with NPP members alone but the votes from the masses, pointing out that he enjoys massive support from the masses who will decide who becomes the President of Ghana.
He said from the market places to lorry stations, his support base and popularity stands tall among all the other nine aspirants in the NPP.
Mr Kyeremanten has therefore urged the party's delegates not to be influenced by anybody or gifts to vote for a candidate who will not help the party to break the 8.
"Go to the markets and listen to what people are saying. Go to lorry parks and listen to what they are saying. If you listen to a lot of people, it is Alan the people want," he said in Twi.
The NPP flagbearer race is being contested by 10 candidates, including the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; a former Minister of Trade and Industry, Kwadwo Poku, Energy expert; Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, a former Minister of Regional Cooperation and New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD); Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Minister of Food and Agriculture and Joe Ghartey, a former Minister of Railways.
The rest are Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong in the Ashanti Region; Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, a former Energy Minister; Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former NPP General Secretary.

Well said, unfortunately you failed to tell us why the ' lots of people at the Lorry parks ' like you. In as much as all the aspirants have every right to sell their message to the people, care must be take not to incur the wrath of supporters of the other aspirants because they also have votes. Remember that in the general elections every registered voter is a delegate. What will you ( Allan) tell your supporters if you fail to win the presidential primaries to represent the NPP in elections 2024? Will you tell them not to vote because ' lots of people at the Lorry parks ' don't like the person who won in the primaries? Assuming you win in the primaries, can you campaign nationwide without mentioning anything positive about the government of which you were part? You are a fine gentleman by all standards. I wish Bawumia wins the presidential primaries for one simple reason. John Mahama once made a statement to the effect that the day Bawumia will make an attempt to lead the NPP is the day they will show him where he belongs, according to Mahama, the NPP will never allow Bawumia to be their presidential candidate despite all the campaigns he embarked on in 2016 to bring him( John Mahama) down. Again there is this albatross around the neck of the NPP being an Akan party meaning if you are not of Akan origins, you have limited space in the NPP . My problem is, if Bawumia fails to win the primaries, John Mahama would have been vindicated. He will jab Bawumia by saying " I told you so". For this singular reason, i wish that Bawumia emerges victorious. But for this , Allan is more than qualified. Let's agree that it is God who makes kings. It was destined that John Mahama will be president without his face on the ballot paper. He woke up one morning as Vice President and by the close of the day he was sworn in as the president. I wish that the NPP aspirants manage their expectations, insults , tribal and religious sentiments, mud throwing and meetings at secret locations to pull each other down will not help. In all these , if the NDC wins election 2024, their cane will fall on all of you, all of you , nobody will be left out. A lion don't know a sick Buffalo, once it brings a Buffalo down, dinner is ready. NPP , a very vibrant party with national appeal if handled properly can rule Ghana for several years running , unfortunately it's very difficult to read the minds of its current leadership, you just can't image what informs their decisions on certain actions/ inactions . Look at the way Kufuor and his appointees were going about issues in government , every single step they took, they looked back to be sure the party was closely following thus the 49% lead a new presidential candidate got in the 2008 elections meaning the party was still the popular choice of the people. Now, see. Your own road/ building contractors, school feeding caterers, buffer stock food suppliers, constituency executives, ordinary party supporters are all weeping inside their stomachs. If you are not a minister, mmdce, CEO , presidential staffer , you can't see top and yet there is battle waiting to be fought by all. Am not saying it. Bawumia, Allan, Afriyie Akoto and Kennedy Agyapong have all come out openly to admit that in their campaign tour of the country, the common chorus is " neglect of the ordinary NPP supporter". These are the people you expect to police/ man the polling stations on Election Day, in 2016, some stood at various polling stations from 6:00 am through to the counting of ballots as late as 9:00 pm in some polling stations, some returned from remote areas after 10:00 pm without food just to ensure the NPP was not shortchanged. Today nobody cares about the welfare of these category of people. Am not saying it. Kennedy Agyapong has repeated this 100 times on TV. So Mr. Allan Kyeremantin, " breaking the 8" cannot be about you alone. it must be all hands on deck. Am only repeating same for someone to use the remaining 1 and half years to make amends if not .... ... ?
