This is where the NPP needs to be extra careful. Currently much emphasis is being placed on winning the presidential elections i.e. 'Breaking the 8' forgetting the current trauma and embarrassment the NPP is going through in parliament due the party's failure to secure an absolute majority in parliament. The primaries must be transparent devoid of the powers that be coming out to openly support any candidate. If you have performed creditably as an MP , you shouldn't be afraid going into the primaries. The playing field must be level for all. Nobody was born with experience or institutional memory. If it's about experience then we should have gone back to bring all surviving MP's before 1992 to occupy seats in parliament. If it were about experience then the presidency should rotate between former president kufour and John Mahama. If the NPP fails to manage the up coming parliamentary primaries well, the will see a further decrease in the number of MP's in January,2025. If your 169 MP's in 2016 dropped to 137 in 2020 ( in just 48 months ) and you haven't learnt any lessons from that, then you will never learn. The 2017 elephant has big ears as usual. Unfortunately it doesn't listen, at best it hears but won't listen thus the current difficulties the government is going through. Don't drink the soup so we can all eat the fufu till it's finished, you say no. Okay drink all the soup and throw the fufu away. If the current NPP appointees don't sit up, this is what will happen to them in 2024. Soup doesn't last long in the stomach compared to fufu however small. Majority of the current NPP appointees don't know this. Hot water does not quench thirst.
