Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged students, especially the 2023 WASSCE candidates not to allow "anyone [to] denigrate their achievements."
In a Facebook post on Thursday morning [Dec 28] in reaction to a campaign message by former President John Mahama that the government with the connivance of teachers in recent times was allowing students to cheat during exams so as to be able to tout that a better form of education was being offered by the government, Dr Bawumia said: "Not everyone can appreciate what it takes to be an intelligent student."
"You have earned the excellent performances by dint of hard work. God bless you," Dr Bawumia posted.
"Congratulations to all WASSCE students, their teachers as well as their parents for the excellent performance attained by the students in this year’s [2023] WASSCE."
"This is no doubt the result of hard work and dedication by all of you. You have made Ghana proud and I wish you the very best as you move on to greater challenges," Dr Bawumia wrote.

As for former president Mahama the least said about him the better. I don't know why he hates everything about free SHS.
Hahaha Bawumia is talking some ? Ei Ghana . We’re so aware of the fact that the children are very much aware of the ***barred word*** malpractices going in schools . You can be there and after you’ve lost 2024 elections , you’ll know the youth need jobs so instead of trying to feed on malpractices , try get jobs for the youth wai . See Bawuliar ooo . Anukwale po
See who is talking. Anokwah! Your intelligence be this? $1=GHS 13
This unguarded statement by Mahama is childish and disrespectful to the youth. Seriously he needs to check his brain.
Spot on response!
Mahama is a very cheap guy paaaaa.... so all the teachers he claimed are conniving to enable the students to cheat are NPP teachers? There are no NDC teachers to stop the cheating? Mahama is not fit to be president again. He can say any ***barred word*** just to win power. Apor has been there since I was in secondary school during the 1980s
