Former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr. Atik Mohammed has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) to make wise choices as they embark on the Parliamentary Primaries Saturday, January 27, 2024.
He explained, considering the work that the recent parliament has done, it will be prudent to elect those who have the ability and potential to formulate policies that will build the nation.
Mr. Atik revealed that, the primary aim of an MP is to formulate policies or make laws that will govern the country. The making of roads, according to Mr. Atik, is just an incidental responsibility.
He again cautioned delegates against allowing money to influence their decisions while electing their candidates who will represent NPP for the December 2024 general elections.
"We must be focused, more non-resource based economic transformation. So any candidate who, for instance, has in-depth knowledge in mining will be an asset to parliament because such a fellow can offer very meaningful discourse of policy formulation for the minerals sector'' Atik said on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show.
'Whatever they do tomorrow will have an effect on their performance in the general election,'' he added.

Atik paaaa, the delegates will hear but they will not listen. If the delegates refuse to follow money, when and where will they also get their share having been neglected and abandoned for close to 7 years now. The delegates will definitely go in for their share of the booty. The thinking of most delegates and the larger NPP support base before 2017 is not the same thinking of the appointees when the party won power. Some of the appointees could not afford a motorcycle of their own not to talk of their own houses, some were staying in single rooms and at best a chamber and hall. Today they can boast of a fleet of cars, mansions and government lands they acquired at give away prices. The delegates know of all these after all they live with the appointees in their communities so they know them, then and now . Let them grab their share. After all where did the appointees get the from? If you pick a coin on the dancing floor, as long as you continue to dance same coin will get missing on the dancing floor for someone else to also pick. This is exactly what's going to happen. How can one particular group of people be sowing while another group keep harvesting . It's time for the delegates to also harvest, allow them.
