Henry Kwabena Kokofu has issued a reply to critics who were compelling President Nana Akufo-Addo to release the KPMG audit report on the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
It could be recalled that The Fourth Estate publication disclosed some irregularities in the contract and has been calling for the cancellation of the deal.
As a result, the President directed KPMG to audit the transaction and the firm, after their work, delivered their findings to the President who released some parts of it into the public.
But he (Nana Akufo-Addo) came under intense criticisms for keeping the full report.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the President finally made the full report accessible to the general public.
A statement signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, explained the reason for the President's decision stating he is “in the interest of full transparency in governance, openness, and honesty with the public, has decided to waive the privilege under section 5 of the RTI Act and has directed the publication of the KPMG report in full”.
Touching on the matter during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", the former Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Henry Kokofu took a swipe at those who were pressuring the President to publicize the report.
He subtly queried them saying "those who were calling for the release of the full report, the President has released it. What are they going to use it for?"

When an elderly person talk like this the youth will insult him. ***barred word***
We will throw it into one of Bawumiah's flagship toilets. What we will do with it doesn't limit our right to have the report. No government can keep a public information from the public.
The weak mind insults. Hmmm
kokufo, have you lost your mind or just being ***barred word***, Ghanaians are going to use the report to ***barred word*** your wife and daughters. Is like NPP has no respect for Ghana people anymore
And he was together with some heads listening to this rubbish and no one in the studio prompted him.
Just listen to this dude. All these people have been paid using taxpayers money and now he is speaking like a class one pupil. If you understand governance and due process you won’t talk like this. Who paid for the cost of the audit? Is it not state funds so where did those who requested for the report went wrong? All these people have acquired doctorate degrees…. Smh. Media Foundation for West Africa made a request for the report to be released so that Ghanaians can interrogate it and draw conclusions. You should talk like someone who once occupied a highest office in Ghana and that the interest of the country should override your political affiliation. That means you also learnt nothing from the office that you once occupied. Ofori Atta will surely be punished and jailed one day for the crimes he committed while in office sooner than later.
Fuuuooolishhh manl! Why then was the president refusing to release report? Ghanaians have seen the corrupt dealings by SML and Ken ofori atta. We shall live to see what Ghanaians will do.
