Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, the owner of Labianca Company, and a member of the Council of State, has passed away.
Her death came after a brief illness, according to sources close to her.
Calls for her resignation intensified on August 9, 2022, following a report by the Office of the Special Prosecutor implicating her in corruption-related offences.
The report alleged that Asomah-Hinneh and another official used their positions to secure favourable tax treatment for Labianca Company, her frozen foods business.
Vitus Azeem, a prominent anti-corruption advocate, demanded that Mrs. Asomah-Hinneh step down from her position, citing her involvement in the Labianca case.
He also urged President Akufo-Addo to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter, to demonstrate his commitment to fighting corruption.
However, the High Court, Accra, quashed the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) report, which had found wrongdoing by two individuals in the Labianca case.
The court also ordered the OSP to pay GHC 10,000 in costs, marking a significant turn in the case.
The OSP’s report had accused Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, a former Commissioner of the Customs Division at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and Joseph Adu Kyei, a former Deputy Commissioner of the Division, of wrongdoing in the case.

Woooaw death does not respect money? Hmmmm
Hmmmm, may the Lord have mercy on us. I pray our politicians will learn to learn at some point. Many of these examples have been happening since ages, yet politicians never learn. One day, it will all be ***barred word*** to you whatever you steaI from the people. If you are a good and wise man, you will build your children with wisdom and goof education which they need to also do well in this life, you don't need to steaI resources belonging to the masses and bequet them to your children. It is not worth the price you will pay when you finally leave this world, stop putting people's lives in jeopardy for your selfish interests. Stop pretending and give your life to Jesus Christ.
"...after he had gathered all his harvest he now said: my soul,be merry for you have everything. But the Lord said to him:you ***barred word***! This very night l will demand your soul...." Where your treasure is,there your heart will be. These politicians and their cronies in business who robb the state to enrich themselves, where are your hearts? On looted material wealth or pn the things of God. May she rest in peace
The Lord is always on the side of the oppressed and the marginalized. She refused to resign even when it was glaring she was in conflict of interest situation. Backed by her corrupt colleagues in government, she refused to resign and now God Almighty has intervened! Can she refuse? We should build treasures at a place where neither moth nor pests can destroy. May God forgive her her sins
