Renowned international lawyer and advocate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah continued his unwavering campaign across Ghana this past weekend.
As the patron of Friends of Bawumia 08, Lawyer Juanah’s passionate commitment to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its mission to improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians was once again evident as he took to the streets of the Ashanti Region, rallying support for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
On Saturday, October 26, 2024, in collaboration with the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of AAMUSTED, Lawyer Juanah led a vibrant street outreach from the university campus through Kwadaso to Sofoline.
With a clear, resonant voice, he addressed street hawkers, drivers, and pedestrians, painting a vivid picture of Ghana’s governance journey, from the days of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to the present Fourth Republic.
Lawyer Juanah’s message resonated with historical insight as he highlighted the contrasting legacies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He drew attention to the transitions within the NDC, tracing its roots from the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) to the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and finally to the current NDC.
He emphasized how, this faction has repeatedly subjected Ghanaians to economic hardship and denied them the benefits of state resources whenever in power.
According to Lawyer Juanah, the NDC’s legacy includes selling off State-owned enterprises to close associates, driving private businesses out of the country and, in some instances, even taking the lives of business owners.
“The NDC started right from AFRC, later became PNDC, and the NDC we see today. They sold state-owned enterprises to themselves, chased private businessmen out of the country, and subjected Ghanaians to unemployment", he stated emphatically.
This, he argued, was the genesis of Ghana’s unemployment crisis, marking a sharp contrast to the policies the NPP has championed over the years.
In his typical fervor, Lawyer Juanah outlined the fundamental differences between the two political parties.
“The NPP has, over the years, prioritized social intervention policies that solve social problems and provide relief to all Ghanaians, regardless of their economic status or class. The NDC, on the other hand, is more concerned with what it stands to gain, rather than working for the welfare of the people", he said.
He urged his listeners to recognize the tangible impact of the NPP’s commitment to the people, citing specific social interventions that have transformed lives.
The following day, Sunday, October 27, 2024, Lawyer Juanah and his team took their message to an often-overlooked demographic; leaders of local ghettos in Sofoline.
With sincerity and empathy, he engaged with these ghetto community, reminding them of the NPP’s dedication to uplifting every Ghanaian, particularly those in underprivileged communities.
“The NPP is the only political party that has the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian on the streets, like you, at heart", he told them, emphasizing that the numerous social interventions introduced by former President Kufuor and President Nana Addo have been focused on alleviating the struggles of the common citizen.
Lawyer Juanah went on to highlight some of these interventions, from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, school feeding, capitation grants, LEAP, Planting for Food and Jobs and the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative.
These programs, he argued, have been designed to provide immediate relief, create employment, and build a foundation for sustainable development across the nation.
Turning to the future, Lawyer Juanah championed Dr. Bawumia as the ideal candidate to lead Ghana into a new era.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands as the only presidential candidate with a clear vision to sustain and expand the NPP’s legacy of transformative social interventions, crucial for uplifting Ghanaians from all walks of life", he stated.
Under his leadership, policies like Free Senior High School (Free SHS) and Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), which have empowered students and farmers across Ghana will be protected and improved.
Dr. Bawumia’s deep commitment to empowering the youth is evident in programs such as the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), which have created thousands of jobs, reducing unemployment and boosting livelihoods nationwide.
With his vision, Dr. Bawumia aims to introduce even more initiatives that ensure every Ghanaian, regardless of socio-economic background, has the opportunity to thrive.
Dr. Bawumia’s emphasis on developmental projects reinforces his pledge to build a prosperous and connected Ghana.
Through the expansion of road infrastructure and projects like the Pokuase and Tema Interchanges, he envisions a more accessible Ghana where transportation bottlenecks no longer stifle economic growth.
His commitment to expanding the Tamale International Airport and enhancing railway development underscores a dedication to creating efficient, modern transport networks linking all regions.
In healthcare, Dr. Bawumia intends to prioritize the ongoing Agenda 111 Hospitals Project and expansion of health facilities, ensuring that quality medical care reaches even the remotest areas.
This ambitious approach to development is a testament to his drive for a healthier, more accessible, and economically vibrant nation.
Digitization and E-Governance remain central to Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, as he believes that an advanced digital infrastructure will drive transparency, reduce bureaucracy, and make government services more accessible to all Ghanaians.
His work on initiatives like the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) and No Guarantor Policy for Student Loans has already broadened access to financial and educational opportunities.
By building on digitization efforts and introducing more policies that enhance economic inclusivity, Dr. Bawumia is positioned to carry forward the NPP’s legacy while leading Ghana into an era where governance is not only efficient but inclusive and fair, securing Ghana’s place as a modern, competitive nation on the global stage.
He underscored Dr. Bawumia’s digitization agenda, asserting that it holds the potential to eliminate corruption and favoritism, making meritocracy the new norm.
“Digitization is the only way where meritocracy can thrive”, he added, pointing out how such a system would ensure equality and fairness for all Ghanaians regardless of ethnicity, gender, economic status, religious and political affiliation.
In his concluding remarks, Lawyer Juanah urged those gathered to spread the message of hope and rally their support behind Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
He encouraged them to vote massively for the NPP to ensure that Ghana’s journey towards a prosperous, inclusive society continues.
“Dr. Bawumia’s vision is to build upon the NPP’s legacy of social interventions, introduce new social policies that ease the burdens of ordinary Ghanaians, and expand digitization strategies to improve lives, promote transparency, and eliminate bureaucracy and corruption”, he stated.
The impact of Lawyer Juanah’s message was palpable.
Both the street outreach and the meeting with ghetto community were met with enthusiasm, with many attendees showing visible support for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
The sincerity in Lawyer Juanah’s words and the NPP’s track record of tangible improvements struck a chord, reminding Ghanaians why the NPP remains, in the eyes of many, the party dedicated to human empowerment and livelihood enhancement.
As Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah continues his campaign across the nation, his call for a Ghana anchored in fairness, economic opportunity, and social empowerment echoes louder.
For the people of the Ashanti Region, and indeed all Ghanaians, his message offers a hopeful vision of a future where governance serves all citizens, not just a select few.
