Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, the General Overseer of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Center, has questioned the concept of the Ghana Card initiated by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.
The Ghana Card has become a national identity card and is linked to almost all systems like SSNIT, banks and others to facilitate transactions and avoid fraud among other benefits of the card.
But Dr. Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, popularly called "Opambour", has rubbished the card.
Speaking during a Clergy meeting with former President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, November 11, Opambour queried the public on the essence of the card.
"Can the Ghana Card give us free cars?", he repeatedly asked.
The man of God further criticized the government stressing "nothing shows it (the card) can provide us with free cars. There's no country that gives free cars".
Clergy Meeting
Former President John Dramani Mahama who is the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is seeking re-election.
He hopes to win the December 7 polls and as part of his campaign, he has been holding sessions with the Clergy to seek their prayers and explain his plans to them.
On Monday, the former President met with the Clergy in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, which is the second edition of his Clergy meetings.
He held the first edition in the Greater Accra Region.
During the Kumasi edition, Mr. Mahama touched on various policies but mainly centered on the Free Senior High School policy of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
Discussing this policy, he noted that his government will ensure that private Senior High Schools are included in the free SHS and also give money directly to the various school administrations to purchase foodstuffs to prepare what he termed as "good food" for their students.
