Hiplife artist, Asem has taken his ‘School Dey Be’ tour to a number of second cycle institutions across the country and Ola Girls Senior High School was the latest school to enjoy the thrilling performances from the rapper.

The general idea for the tour is to touch base with his fans because Asem believes that every musician should identify his crowd, audience and grow with them. He also hopes that in doing so, he would be able to impart the need for these students to take their studies seriously.

“They will see me on tour, listen to my music and they wont perceive me as Asem as just an rapper but also but as a person who also motivates them to go to school and be serious”, comments the 2009 Ghana Music Award’s discovery of the year.

Asem who draws on the experience of other artists who contribute to the society, such as the Ludacris Foundation, which deals with street children, hopes that his ‘School Dey Be’ project has come to stay. “I believe every artiste should find a way to touch base with his fans, that’s why the ‘School Dey Be’ project is my thing. Its going to grow and become a bigger project.

It will get to a time that I wouldn’t have to go around schools to perform but have a venue maybe in every region and people will know that ‘School Dey Be’ is part of the Ghanaian school timetable. It will be factored such that may be in the middle of the term there will be an event which will start with a symposium before I perform alongside other artistes on board”, Asem sheds light on his dream.

The ‘School Dey Be’ tour will move to other schools in the coming weeks. It is an initiative of Asem and the Lynx Entertainment Label in collaboration with Fountain House Ghana with Support from OMENT.
